Yerramilli or Yerramilly or Erramilli is the surname of Brahmins who belong to either Niyogi Bramhanas or to Vaideeka Bramhanas.

This sect of telaganya brahmins migrated from telangana region to Coastal Andhra region and settled in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.During muslim rule in telangana, Muslim invaders occupied their land and also forced them to convert to islam. This orthodox sect could not comply with the invaders and began to migrate to other parts of Andhra. Most of them initially settled in Udimudi Village in P.Gannavaram Mandal in East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Since they came from telangana region their sect is called telagaanya sect or Telagaanyulu. The patrilineal forebearer of their gotram/clan is Kaushika. The name yerramilli is assumed to be the name of their ancient village in telangana region which is considered to be renamed with some muslim name. The muslim name for the ancient village "yerramilli" is not recorded.

Yerramilli Jagga Kavi (from the Niyogi sect) once wanted to go to Kaasi. On the way he stopped at Ontimavidi. There in his dream Kasi Visweshwara appeared and said to him "You don't need to go to Kaasi to see me. I am here in Ontimavidi". So he built a temple there and settled in that village. That is root of all the Yerramillis. In the historically familiar village of Vantimamidi there is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva which is few centuries old. In the year of 1852 Late Sri Yerramilli Venkatachalam garu the mula purushudu of the Yerramilli family who moved to Vantimamidi from Pasarlapudi lanka, had taken over temple responsibility. Since then the temple was being managed by the family elders and conducting Kalyanotsavam non stop even during worst recession time. The first renovation and reconsecration was done under his auspices in 1852.Subsequently in 1956 the Dhwajasthambam was reconsecrated.The family consulted Agaman pandits who opined that the temple need Jeernodharana and reconsecration. Beside the Idols of Sri Rajarajeswari, Ganapathi and Nandi to be replaced as there were cracks. New Idols along with Lord Subramanyeswara shall be installed. The main Gopuram and two sub Gopurams needed extensive renovation which is in progress now. In addition the interior rooms are being renovated with tiles etc.It has been decided by the Pandits to perform the final ceremony of installation of Idols, Homams etc. on 1–3 June 9. The ceremony also include feeding the poor to expected 10,000 persons.With the contributions from immediate family members, work has already started.

Vantimamidi is 12 km off Annavaram railway station in the main Chennai – Howrah route. Nearest airport at Rajahmundry (90 minutes drive) or Visakhapatnam (2 hours drive).Annavaram is in the main trunk train route of Chennai - Howrah. Most of the major trains stop there. Annavaram also situated in the main Chennai-Howrah highway.Bus service is available from Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Vizag. Sharing and regular autorikshaw service is available to Vantimamidi from Annavaram. The nearest airport is at Madurapudi near Rajahmundry(74 km) or Visakhapatnam(125 km). Both are drivable distances. Most of the express APSRTC buses stop at Annavaram. The temple located on the outskirts of Vantimamidi and is about 10 minutes walk from the police station.
