Young River (New Zealand)
It lies within the Mount Aspiring National Park and feeds into the Makarora River three kilometres upriver from Makarora. In September 2007 a slip (landslide) blocked the north branch of the river forming a new lake behind the slip.
The new lake, 2500 m long, 500 m wide and 100 m deep, may be permanent.
