[edit] Early Life
Schaefer was born in Frankfurt, Germany, where she began her early career as a model and actress. As a child, Schaefer studied ballet while also doing theatre and performed in several stage productions. Her modeling career started at three years old when she was discovered by a child photographer who worked for major European catalogue companies. Schaefer also worked internationally as a model in Europe, Asia and South Africa. Her modeling work has included campaigns for many top designers and sportswear companies including Ferrari, Gucci, Nike, Wolford, and Triumph. In the 1990's, Schaefer was studying psychology at Goethe University Frankfurt when she resumed her work as an actress, studying with prestigious acting coaches.

Schaefer has worked worldwide in numerous films, TV Series and stage productions. She appeared internationally in major news papers and magazines, such as Hello (magazine), Maxim, Bunte, New York Post, Bild, Daily News, RTL Explosive and ZDF Hallo Deutschland. Through her passion and participation in extreme sports, Maxim named Schaefer the "Action Girl".
Schaefer lived for some time in both Mallorca and Malaga, Spain, where she acted in Spanish films, such as Trece, where she was cast as the female lead. In 2008, Schaefer moved to New York City.
In the United States, Schaefer has been successful as both an actress and a producer. With her production company YMC Films, Schaefer co-produced the thriller The Child, an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sebastian Fitzek. In The Child, Schefer starred alongside Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) playing the role of Sophie Stern, Roberts' character’s ex-wife. In 2009, Schaefer co-starred in the film, Forget Me Not, directed by award winning director Federico Castelluccio (Sopranos, Pink Panther 2, Made (2001 film)), which had international success. Schaefer worked as the female lead on Keep Your Enemies Closer, alongside Peter Greene (The Bounty Hunter (2010 film), The Mask (film), Pulp Fiction) and Manny Pérez (La Soga). In the award winning film Lily of the Feast, she had a scene with Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas, Dick Tracy (1990 film)). She has also filmed APT.5K, starring opposite Mel Gorham (Carlito's Way, Smoke (film)).
In 2012 Schaefer signed on to work in two upcoming feature films: Numba One and Three Can Keep a Secret.

In 2008, Schaefer began a romantic relationship with artist and actor Federico Castelluccio when they met at a premiere in New York City.
