Dimanga Chawa (born 28 December 1993 in Nairobi), better known by his stage name ZJ Chawa, is a Kenyan DJ and remixer.[1] and VJ[2]

Early life and career[edit]

As a child, Chawa's earliest forays into dance music involved organising dance competitions at primary school to find the under-10 with the best dancer. During his teenage years he developed an interest in early rave music and then dancehall, but the turning point came when his elder brother was given a pair of turntables for his birthday and promptly left them in his room when he went back to college. Chawa commandeered the decks, taught himself to DJ and started playing at friends' parties.

Chawa has performed at various venues in the United States, namely LIV and Mansion (Miami), MurMur (Atlantic City), Playhouse (Los Angeles), Gold Bar, Embargo 59, Raffles, Automat, Griffin and The Eldridge (New York City), as well as Club 29 in Istanbul, Turkey.
