Zavidovići is a young town that was established at the end of the 19th century. The town is famous for its big industrial collective for refinement of wood "Krivaja" and this is why this town's nickname is "Wood town". Zavidovići is located in the basin of three rivers: The Bosna, Krivaja and Gostović.
Zavidovići was developed by the Austrians during the Austro-Hungarian reign in Bosnia, mostly because of the wood industry. After World War II, the wood industry in Zavidovići, the company named after one of the rivers "Krivaja" (founded in 1884), expanded. The company focused on furniture manufacturing, which it began to export to the US under the name "Krivaja Beechbrook". Due to the Bosnian war, the former giant and the town are left with almost nothing.
