The Taipei Metro Zhonghe Line is a high-capacity, underground line and is part of the Orange Line. The 5.4 km route has 5 stations and runs from Nanshijiao and passes beneath the Xindian River into Taipei and terminates on the Xindian Line at Guting.

History

• June 1992: Construction began for the Zhonghe Line.
• December 24, 1998: The Zhonghe Line opened for service.

Rolling stock

Over the years, three versions of rolling stock were used on this line, as well as on the through services between Nanshijiao and Beitou. Originally, the line used a large fleet of C301 train sets. In 1999, only a few trains of C341 cars were used. In 2007, some trains of C371 cars were introduced. Today, the majority of the fleet used on this line is still the original C301 train sets.

Future Expansion

With the completion of part of the Xinzhuang Line in 2011, trains will connect through to the Xinzhuang Line instead of the Xindian Line at Guting. When the Orange Line is completed, trains will travel from Nanshijiao to either Luzhou or Huilong.
