Highest clock rate[edit]
What is the highest clock rate possible to use on the DCE? What determines what clock rate should be used? What is the difference between the clock rates?
- What is the highest clock rate possible to use on the DCE?
- That has more to do with the design of the DCE itself and the protocol being used for the interface between the DTE and DCE. For example, if the protocol is RS232C, it's typical not to exceed 500000 bps.
- What determines what clock rate should be used?
- prior arrangement between DTE and DCE. That's why serial terminals and computer serial port with terminal emulator software have a data rate selection/setting, so that the speed can be adjusted based on to what DCE it's connected.
- What is the difference between the clock rates?
