Retitle and move to Piñon, Colorado[edit]

During the recent AfD, part of the discussion involved a suggestion to rename and move this article from Piñon, Montrose County to Piñon, Colorado, the correct name per WP's standard naming conventions, and per the fact there is no other town or city named Piñon in Colorado.

Because I'm fairly confident this would be an uncontroversial move, and don't think there will be a technical barrier to doing so, and I don't believe it is required to open a formal move request. There is an admin backlog for requested moves, and so I'm opening this more informal talk page discussion.

Also courtesy pinging @Liz, the admin that closed the AfD after it was withdrawn to keep her in the loop of communication. Any additional page watchers or interested editors are welcome to comment here. – Netherzone (talk) 15:37, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support: I think most people agree that Piñon is the COMMONNAME. Seeing as no other Piñons existed in Colorado, referencing the county goes outside the norm for article names, especially the county without the state.
