El escudo de armas de Colón se presenta en la página web municipal, diseñado por Carlos Villaláz a petición del alcalde Juan Demóstenes Arosemena. El escudo está cortado en dos. La mitad superior muestra una carabela del siglo 15, recordando el descubrimiento de América por Cristóbal Colón. La mitad inferior muestra sobre un campo de oro un ave fénix surgiendo de las llamas, como un símbolo de la eternidad. El escudo está flanqueado por una palma y una rama de laurel, símbolo de progreso y triunfo, respectivamente. El ave fénix recuerda que la ciudad fue incendiada y posteriormente reconstruida en dos ocasiones, en 1885 durante la guerra civil colombiana, y, accidentalmente, en 1915.

The coat of arms of Colón is presented on the municipal website as designed by Carlos Villaláz upon request by Mayor Juan Demóstenes Arosemena. The shield is divided per fess. The upper half shows a 15th century caravel, recalling the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Colombus. The lower half shows on a golden field a phoenix bird emerging from flames, as a symbol of eternity. The shield is flanked by a palm and a laurel branch, symbolizing progress and triumph, respectively. The phoenix indeed recalls that the town was burned down and subsequently rebuilt twice, in 1885 during the Colombian Civil War, and, accidentally, in 1915.
