Shouldn't the logo be of the current one with the basketball in the background above the bridge? 2601:82:C001:BDD0:1913:381E:4498:4AB4 (talk) 20:46, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Upload Dispute[edit]

@Sabbatino, GalaxyFighter55, Roselle Charles, and Wow:

It seems we are in an upload dispute over the new Warriors logo. I wish to help solve this issue by presenting both sides of the argument.

  • For this logo (blue wordmark), this was unveiled on the team's social media accounts: Twitter
  • For this logo (gold wordmark), it appears as if this logo was from the NBA's website: NBA.

Personally, I can speak for the blue wordmark logo, as I personally saw the tweet of the Warriors changing their logo. However, while I can believe that the bridge may be more gold, as shown on their website, I have seen no other logo on the Internet that shows the wordmark in a gold color, just the dark blue.

I opened this discussion so we can finally resolve this issue in a civil manner and choose the correct logo. Please feel free to reply. JE98 (talk) 23:36, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, when I first reverted the logo with the gold wordmark, I had know idea it was from an official NBA stat sheet file. However, this is very confusing as the logo was introduced with a blue wordmark around the Bridge logo. This same website also features the full "secondary" logos for the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite this, it was been stated numerously that their logos with just the rocket "R" and sword "C" are their primary logo. I will admit, there is no color corrected version of the logo that the Warriors social media team introduced, even though that seems to be the correct one. I have yet to see the Warriors full logo with the yellow wordmark outside that NBA stat file.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 01:06, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.sportslogos.net/ is a good place for these logos, but the site runners have yet to upload the new version of the full Warriors logo as of this typing. Plus, they seem to go upon the format of all the logos being consistent with a full logo and wordmark to go along with them, but recently teams have been making primaries that go against this format since Nike took over team's uniforms 2 years ago, like the Rockets and Cavs.GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 01:09, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with JE98 the bluewordmark logo is the correct logo.Roselle Charles (talk) 05:06, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@JE98 and Roselle Charles: Stop edit warring as both of you are going against WP:BRD. It is your duty to start a discussion and wait out until this has been cleared. In addition, the fact that both of you edited the same pages (this with the addition of Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors) by adding the exactly same content makes an impression that both of you are the same person, which means you are the subject of WP:SOCKPUPPET. Going back to the logo in question. The NBA source has the correct logo and the only thing that does not satisfy you is the color of the wordmark. I do have the other version with blue wordmark (also from NBA), which has the correct color codes and is not pixelated like this crap Twitter version, which was most likely done through a website where you can convert any format to SVG. In addition, I should remind everyone involved in this discussion that the NBA's version (both the league and/or team's website) triumphs over any version shown on social media and/or other pages. So please stay away from edit warring and discuss. – Sabbatino (talk) 08:04, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: With all due respect, I promise that I and Roselle Charles are not the same person. In fact, I am the one who started this discussion, so I do not see why you need to be rude to me like that. JE98 (talk) 10:46, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Corkythehornetfan: Thanks again for the image protection. I apologize if anyone thinks I did anything wrong, but again, I opened this discussion to resolve the issue, not to be falsely accused of being a sockpuppet. Honestly, at this point, I believe both logos are legitimate and I don't care what the end result is, I just want everyone to agree on the end result. That's honestly all I want. JE98 (talk) 18:23, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Says who? Check out Houston, Denver, and Cleveland's. They all have the full "name" logo on this website you proclaim "absolute", but do you see them being used on their Wikipedia articles?--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 19:30, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We go by what is commonly used — see the Cleveland Cavaliers logo for example. There was a debate on that because it wasn’t their “primary” logo, but it’s what is commonly used. I did not protect the page, I only went to admins seeking the protection. Corky 06:04, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@GalaxyFighter55: Those logos are different from the NBA's source, because the teams said in their press releases that those logos are their main and that is why they are different than what you can find in the NBA source. Nevertheless, those versions were cut out of the NBA source's versions. In addition, all color codes from the NBA source are the only correct color codes. – Sabbatino (talk) 09:29, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sabbatino: Me and @JE98: are not the same person and i am not edit warring over this new logo, so you are accusing me for nothing and i started responding to this discussion right after JE98 started it and also i think the logo with the bluewordmark is the correct one and i think that logo will appear on the Chase Center's floor.Roselle Charles (talk) 09:18, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Roselle Charles: Please get familiar with what an accusation is. I merely wrote my observations that both of you edited the same pages by adding the exactly same content. However, this is not the place for arguing about things that are not related to the subject so please stop it and stick to the subject. In addition, noone cares what logo will be used on the Warriors' arena's floor since they might use a completely different logo. – Sabbatino (talk) 09:37, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: I understand why you were concerned, and like Roselle Charles said, I promise your concern is false and I am willing to move past the issue. As for the logo, I decided to check out the NBA Stats website to check it out, and I do see the gold wordmark as discussed. It also appears there is a darker New York Knicks logo as well, and based on their social media, both the lighter and darker are used. What I believe is that the bridge is more gold like in the gold wordmark version, no doubt in my mind. However, based on the announcement on the Warriors' social media accounts, I am still convinced that the wordmark is blue. JE98 (talk) 20:52, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino, JE98, Roselle Charles, and Wow: Ok guys, so I've uncovered this official Warriors NBA logosheet: https://mediacentral.nba.com/wp-content/uploads/logos/nba/gsw/Golden_State_Warriors_logosheet.jpg ; It seems the global logo with the blue logo is absolute, regardless on opinion towards to the current yellow one. Should we consider this discussion finished? And on another note, somebody has finally uploaded a good file with the correct color shades. Same size for this file and everything. Only problem is it's a PNG file, which I am unable to convert to a SVG document. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/nba/images/0/0f/Golden_State_Warriors_logo.png/revision/latest?cb=20190701033419 --GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 03:41, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes we should consider this discussion finished and i think the global logo is the correct one. Roselle Charles (talk) 06:48, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sabbatino, GalaxyFighter55, Roselle Charles, and Wow: I agree, it looks like the blue wordmark is the correct logo. We got into this because the Twitter logo's colors were off. While it is still a blue wordmark, the colors have since been corrected. I have uploaded the logo and if we are all in agreement, this can be used as the current logo. JE98 (talk) 12:31, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I will be at home tomorrow or on Wednesday and then I will upload the logo with correct colors. So please wait until at least then, because we certainly do not need any of this file-warring. – Sabbatino (talk) 19:00, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: The admin advised he would unprotect the file page once a consensus was gained. So we don't need to create a new file. Though I'd like to see the page protected through the rest of its term, we can unprotect it or send the admin the SVG file to upload... thoughts? Corky 16:30, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Corkythehornetfan: I will only be able to send the file tomorrow since that is when I will be at home. – Sabbatino (talk) 16:50, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sabbatino: If you would like to replace my temporary file, File:Golden State Warriors 2019.svg, with your file, you may. JE98 (talk) 19:21, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sabbatino: Apologies that I am asking again, but do you have the file? JE98 (talk) 15:19, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@JE98: I do. But I am again away from home and will not be able to do anything until at least Sunday. – Sabbatino (talk) 15:30, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Oh ok, I completely understand. Enjoy your vacation. JE98 (talk) 15:49, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It is not a vacation. My absence from here is work-related. I hope that I will have some time tomorrow to make a request. – Sabbatino (talk) 19:14, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sabbatino: Understood, my apologies, take your time to upload the logo. JE98 (talk) 21:53, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Due to my busy schedule, I am thinking about waiting until the upload protection expires on July 25, and then uploading the updated logo. If anyone else wants, you can make the upload request yourselves. – Sabbatino (talk) 18:49, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sabbatino: Well, making the upload request depends. @GalaxyFighter55, Roselle Charles, and Wow: Are we all in agreement that the logo with dark blue text (the temporary file from two weeks ago) is the correct logo? JE98 (talk) 23:36, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly support logo with blue wordmark as the correct logo.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 02:26, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes the logo with the blue wordmark is the correct logo. Roselle Charles (talk) 04:39, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Yaris678: In that case, since you protected the file, I think now is an appropriate time to ask that the protection is lifted. JE98 (talk) 19:09, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping. I see that no one has come in to disagree with the consensus so I have removed the protection. Yaris678 (talk) 08:07, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
