Anny....I don't know what to do with this article.Shouldn't it be a disambiguation? Jacob696
:It kindof already is somewhat like a disambig. I would just leave it alone. Maybe tag it with :Category:Disambiguation. If you're asking if it should be moved to Anny (disambiguation) then, no, because there's no article that wants to be at Anny. 16:08, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Teh Huggle

Yes. When you tag a page for speedy-deletion under G10, Huggle replaces the content of the page with "db-g10" instead of just adding the tag at the top of the page. I always thought it was a nice touch... Thingg 17:28, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

huh? Wait you mean because you have look in the history to make sure it's an attack page? Thingg 17:31, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, that's not what I meant at all. :) I meant if that's making your job more difficult, you could suggest that Gurch make it so that Huggle doesn't do that when he rolls out the next version. (Sometimes it's hard for me to believe, but Huggle is currently on version 0.7.10. o_O) If you want to suggest it, you can do it at Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback or I can do it if you're too scared. ;) Thingg 17:35, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My reply here (in the edit summary).

Hi Xenocidic, first congrats on your recent successful RfA. I notice you marked this incident posted on ANI, as resolved. It might have been good to have asked me about this before posting there. I'm afraid that the user posting claims that the subject of an article has committed incest is a very clear breach of WP:BLP. The editor concerned is now under the impression that my warning was unjustified. I realize that you did not say that at ANI, but that's what User:Myheartinchile is now claiming. Its not a big deal, but I'd hate to have this user believe that this kind of defamatory edit was being endorsed by an admin. Best, Gwernol 01:18, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Xenocidic, much appreciated. Gwernol 01:46, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi xeno - just wanted to say that I've enjoyed your reports on FritzpollBot very much because they were balanced and informative. I shall definitely be watchlisting the Radio Wikipedia page to check out new reports by you and Stewie. Fritzpoll (talk) 14:34, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

requesting check for suspected sock puppets

as i'm a new anon ip, i will try to ask you the following:

recently on the UFO article, there seems to be the case of sockpuppets:

the admin User:Kwamikagami (aka kwami) seems to be the puppet master of User:ScienceApologist. they always agree with one another, always support one another, always protect one another and always use the same or very similair writing style. so i thought that maybe i can find another neutral admin who checks these two as kwami seems to abuse his admin rights to push the POV of SA and himself. if you feel uncomfortable doing so, please contact one of your admin colleagues and let them do the job. thx in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.84.19.26 (talk) 16:10, June 10, 2008 (UTC)

I'm definitely not the best person to go to with this, I'm not even a week as an admin. I'll raise your concerns with the individuals you mentioned and a neutral admin. xenocidic (talk) 17:08, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
a'right. thank you very much. i think this is the best way to handle this issue and these concerns. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.84.19.26 (talk) 13:13, June 10, 2008
I left messages with the two users you mentioned and another admin. Though you should know that accusing someone of sockpuppetry is a very serious allegation. Also, don't forget to sign your comments with ~~~~. xenocidic (talk) 17:14, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
while that might be true, i think it's better to make sure i'm wrong. i simply see a pattern in the behavior et all with these users...besides their obvious POV pushing. 66.84.19.26 (talk) 17:18, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to make an accusation, the appropriate place to do it is here. ScienceApologist (talk) 17:20, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Xeno, I've replied on my talkpage to your question. Cheers, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 17:24, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • 66.84.x.x, I don't have time to review the lengthly debate at Talk:UFO, but it appears that this has arisen out of a content dispute where consensus has come down on "the other side". Rather than call sockpuppetry (I doubt someone who has been an admin for nearly 3 years would jeopardize the trust of the community by engaging in sockpuppetry) , perhaps seek a less contentious area of editing or accept the consensus, and move on. xenocidic (talk) 17:31, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Xeno. SA and I have completely different interests and long edit histories, so I don't see how anyone who looked into it would think we're sockpuppets. It seems to be a case of our anon. IP being incredulous that two editors could have the same contrary opinion. kwami (talk) 17:57, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I think perhaps a side-order of incorrect terminology use as I suggested here. IP user has since blanked his talk page with the edit summary: no need to block me because of my differing opinion...i'll take my leave now. glad i opened no account. POV and silencing at its best. <^>, so I guess that concludes this matter. Though nothing he did was block-worthy, if misguided. xenocidic (talk) 18:03, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aye, I'm not putting individual userboxes up anymore (got way too many adoptees, but I'll tuck him onto my adoption page. xenocidic (talk) 17:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't we not be encouraging adoptees to put up userboxes stating their religion? Not so much a WP:NOTMYSPACE issue, it just doesn't seem like a good idea, doesn't really help or add anything. Gwynand | TalkContribs 17:49, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the adoptee was specifically asking for one...so Jacob was just being helpful. as for whether religious userboxen should be displayed... that's a can of worms I'm not going to touch. xenocidic (talk) 17:51, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And I just answer questions from a neutral point of view. He wondered where the userbox was, I showed him. Useight (talk) 17:52, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah... I was actually trying not to be too preachy about it, but am only mentioning it because this is adoption, seems like the first bit of good advice might be to avoid such user boxes. Gwynand | TalkContribs 17:54, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to talk to him about it.He doesn't seem to be on right now though. When he comes back I'll try to explain why he shouldn't place that on his page.Mr. GreenHit Me UpAbout Me 17:56, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

← Might be a good idea. Thanks for the note Gwynand, I was a little tied up (see the section above) to delve deeper into the issue =). While you talk page stalkers are here, why not help me improve my page on the subject? ;> xenocidic (talk) 18:05, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's been an ongoing debate as to whether or not it is useful or in the interest of encyclopedia-building to display religious beliefs on one's userpage. As I said above, it's a can of worms I'm not interested in opening. It's ultimately your call. xenocidic (talk) 18:48, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, no. Nothing to do with being Mormon. You might want to take a look at WP:NOTMYSPACE. It might cause you problems, and considering I'm sure you don't want people to judge you over it one way or the other, might be best to just not have it. Gwynand | TalkContribs 18:49, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, Card most certainly did not coin the term Xenocide. See this game from 1989, for example, although I remember a standup arcade game from the late 80's of the same name, too. Jclemens (talk) 20:24, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure if the term appeared in Ender's Game (1985), but Speaker was published in 1986. xenocidic (talk) 20:29, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. That SSP noticeboard is a genuine study in frustration. That User:CodyBestFoods is an obvious sock of a banned user, right down to the edit patterns and name creation. CoD 4

Sorry about removing that section, at first glance it seemed it was just another POV section that sometimes slips into articles; I hadn't looked at CoD 4 in a while, and the new CoD game announcement reminded me. I've been making awkward edits like that all day, I must need a break. Thanks for correcting me, hope it was no trouble. -- Comandante {Talk} 21:01, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again, I can relate to the edit thing. And since this other situation I'm in is so similar and you're an admin now (congrats by the way, didn't know about your RfA), maybe you can recommend what to do here: On Fallout 3, is it correct to mention this as a source when saying that fans of the series are "outraged" that the Survival Edition of the game is only available in the US rather than PAL regions? The source is the developer's blog site, but the outrage only appears in the comments, not the blog part itself. Simply put, is it valid or not to include in the article? The exact policies for sources like this always blur for me. -- Comandante {Talk} 21:17, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

newbie, can you tell?

Hi! Thanks for responding to my request for help -- I just updated my talk page with the following question:

Regarding valid acceptable references and sourcing for new articles that are IT related, are articles and reports from industry-leading analysts (such as Gartner, IDC, Forrester Research, etc.) considered valid?

Thanks for replying! I did read the document you suggested, but I just can't tell from what's there... thing is, if analyst sources are not acceptable, I don't want to write the article, or take up anyone's time reviewing it, since analyst reports are the only credible source I can find for the emerging technology I want to cover.

Compare the changes to the titles to the links to the Numberjacks website and you'll see he/she repeatedly changes them so they are incorrect. I reported the vandalism as soon as I saw it. User:Icantstayaway

Hi there. I see that you don't consider User:Icantstayaway's contributions vandalism. As far as I can see the user is repeatedly adding unsourced content to articles about living people, despite having been warned about this. May I ask you to reconsider? -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 10:35, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My reply here.
No, as far as I can see the user has not responded anywhere, but has added unsourced and OR material, even after having been warned repeatedly. I'm not sure I necessarily agree with your assessment that unsourced contributions to articles on living persons aren't vandalism. Certainly the more sever BLP warning templates (uw-biog3 and ) both mention the threat of blocking.-- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 12:37, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(Re [2]) This one stumped me for a while, but then I noticed you were using the Userbox template. Dashboard

For your dashboard, it looks like other people are starting to copy it to their own userspace. Would you like to make the page transcludable (that's a mouthful) so others can just transclude it to a page of their choice? Or perhaps the page can be modulized so people can pick-and-choose what they want to appear on their own version of the dashboard. Gary King (talk) 19:10, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It should already be transcludemable. Modularization sounds fun. xenocidic (talk) 19:12, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My RFB

Thank you for your comments in my RFB. Since it was only at 64%, it was a shoo-in to be unsuccessful, so I withdrew. I didn't want it to run until its scheduled close time because my intent in standing for RFB was to help the bureaucrats with their workload, not give them one more RfX to close. Through the course of my RFB, I received some very valuable feedback, some of it was contradictary, but other points were well agreed upon. I have ceased my admin coaching for now to give me time to revamp my method. I don't want to give up coaching completely, but I'm going to find a different angle from which to approach it. As for my RFA Standards, I am going to do some deep intraspection. I wrote those standards six months ago and I will slowly retool them. This will take some time for me to really dig down and express what I want in an admin candidate. If, after some serious time of deep thought, I don't find anything to change in them, I'll leave them the way they are. I'm not going to change them just because of some community disagreement as to what they should be. Will I stand for RFB again in the future? I don't know. Perhaps some time down the road, when my tenure as an administrator is greater than one year, if there is a pressing need for more active bureaucrats, maybe. If there no pressing need, then maybe not. Useight (talk) 03:00, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How much do you know about world history?

Dance Dance Revolution (Game Boy versions)

(Re [3]) There doesn't appear to have been a consensus, just a few changes made by Link as he promoted his position on the subject. The title "hand held versions" is too vague, as there's plans for a "Cell phone versions" article as well (which would also fall under hand held games). And merging those two articles would make it too large. Game Boy versions is the best fit in this case and I have to take any proposal from Link to the Past with a grain of salt as I've encountered him many times making over zealous changes that few or no one agrees with. In the end it's still a case by case idea, I believe that sorting by system instead of type is better given the amount of broad-based DDR articles there are and will be. --AeronPrometheus (talk) 18:47, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dashboard idea

Is there a way to get the "immediate requests" box to update when there are current requests for rollback? I think the requests get filled relatively quickly, so maybe unnecessary/moot as most admins that grant userrrights watchlist the RFR page. Just a thought though, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 19:08, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look when I get home. Heading out the door this second =). xenocidic (talk) 19:13, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Inexcusable! Fix it now!!! Actually, I think it wouldn't work, because there isn't a CAT to link to "current requests". But I'm a techno-n00b, so I could be really just talking gibberish...Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 19:15, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hows this - when there are unanswered requests for rollback, a section will appear in the table of contents "Rollback requests". If there are no requests, there will be no such section. Good enough? Will work as long as someone doesn't futz up the Rollback requests page. xenocidic (talk) 21:47, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! Fix mine too! For your convenience.... Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 22:09, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, keeper, too busy socializing on your talk to realize I did this 25 minutes ago... ;p xenocidic (talk) 22:12, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You've done well, grasshopper. You've done well. I bow at your feet, o technologically gifted one. Like I said though, rollback requests are usually granted within minutes of request at RFR, so I probably won't need the extra feature, but I'm glad it's there anyway. Cheers, have a great weekend, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 01:52, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, no problem, you too. As long as the WP:RFR page doesn't get futz with, it should work well. I gave you credit for the idea in the documentation of the dashboard. xenocidic (talk) 01:54, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dashboard?

Hi Xeno, I've seen on Tan and Keeper's page something about an admin dashboard. If it's not complicated, can you show me how to use it? It sounds useful. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 02:03, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly! The dashboard is at User:Xenocidic/dashboard. You can copy the code, or preferably, just transclude it somewhere in your userspace. Or you could even just use it right from my page, but then you wouldn't get added to the user's list =). Dashboard documentation and feature requests are on the talk page here: User talk:Xenocidic/dashboard. happy admniming, xenocidic (talk) 02:04, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll look into it. It seems easy enough to use. I'll let you know if I have any questions TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 02:16, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll vouch for it. The "dashboard" is a beautiful thing, insanely useful, for which Xeno, if he invented it, (I'm pretty sure he did), should get accoloages, barnstars, and flowers sent to his home. I love my dashboard, seen here...Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 02:18, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, his dashboard is slightly modified because he likes to delete pages more than whack vandals. ;p ( i keed ) xenocidic (talk) 02:21, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'm confusled. Not hard. I'm not code-inclined. I made it here and then I got your header so I changed it to my name and got a red link. Otherwise, I like how handy the links are. It beats loading pages just to see if there is anything new. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 02:22, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, you don't need that header line unless you have a header that you put on all your pages as I do (and keeper robbed from me, but that's ok, because I robbed it from someone else). xenocidic (talk) 02:24, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks! Off to play. Know where to find you if I have any other questions. It looks like a great tool, thanks for creating it. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 02:28, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! If I make any enhancements, I'll integrate them into your dash. Let me know if you would like anything added. xenocidic (talk) 02:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Training Wiki

Hey Xenocidic,

Are you interested in helping me Founder a "Trainig Wiki" for adoptees (and adopters), admin coaching/ers to be able to try out various things (including admin tools) in an enviroment that is based entirely on Wikipedia (with appropriate Attribution).

This wiki will also be used for testing media wiki extentions that could be implemented in all the wikimedia foundation projects, but thats up to thwem we can only provide feedback on the extention page..

You may say "this idea has already been done", well you could not be more from the truthe. Ive seen the most common wiki that attempt's to give users experiance with the tools, but this wiki is noway similar to wikipedia (i mean they're not even running the same version or templates etc to try)

Have a think about it and get back to me   «l| Ψrom3th3ăn ™|l»  (talk) 10:32, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I don't really have time to work on another wiki, I'm also not sure how much benefit there is in giving users admin tools in a clinical environment like a test wiki. Really and truly, the tools themselves are not that difficult to use, it's in the application of said tools to real-world situations that requires experience. xenocidic (talk) 14:02, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Not a barnstar

Thanks! The code was so straightforward that this has inspired me to consider embarking on tweaking other things in scripts to my liking. (It sounds like you had a similar experience with your modification) Never done JavaScript before, but it just looks like a pretty basic C++-style language with duck-typing.

Kinda funny that there was >5k of hand-wringing over that issue, and it literally was like a single line of code to change the script so that Kelly wouldn't have that problem in the future. ha ha ha... --Jaysweet (talk) 14:27, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How's it hangin'?

Hi, just thought I'd say a little hello – and congratulate you on your adminship! Hope you guys have been taking good care of the GTA IV article, it would appear that I haven't even taken the time to buy and play it yet! And since that one was actually the only article I was editing on a regular basis, I'm almost on a wikibreak now, only editing when I spot something a do better in less than 30 seconds, heh. nut how's it hangin' for you, got plenty of work to do as an administrator, huh? — Emil K. Archiving

Why? On my talk, you made the claim "Cutting and pasting is typically preferable to page-move archiving." Where did you get this information? WP:ARCHIVE gives the pros and cons of both, and I personally prefer page moving. —Justin (koavf)TCM20:32, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not really It is not clear that there is a consensus for copy-and-paste moving for two reasons: 1.) three out of 5 million members does not consensus make and 2.) if anyone was pleased with the move-archive method, he wouldn't complain on my talk in the first place. I prefer move archiving to copy-and-paste; I realize other editors disagree and that is fine with me as well. But it remains to be seen that one is necessarily better than the other and as you point out, there is not a policy obliging one method. —Justin (koavf)TCM21:31, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anny....I don't know what to do with this article.Shouldn't it be a disambiguation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacob696 (talkcontribs) 4:03, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

It kindof already is somewhat like a disambig. I would just leave it alone. Maybe tag it with Category:Disambiguation. If you're asking if it should be moved to Anny (disambiguation) then, no, because there's no article that wants to be at Anny. 16:08, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
