Sasural Genda Phool (Hindi: ससुराल गेंडा फूल translation: In-Laws House's Marigold Flower) is an Indian show that is being currently aired on STAR Plus. The show premièred on STAR Plus on March 1, 2010 in India and on March 8, 2010 in the UK. It is the remake of the popular Star Jalsha show Ogo Bondhu Sundori.
Plot
Sasural Genda Phool is a witty, light-hearted story of Ishaan and Suhana, an unlikely couple brought together by the system of arranged marriage. They are total opposites and hail from completely different family backgrounds. Suhana is a spirited and beautiful girl, living a high profile modern life in a palatial house with enough servants to attend to her needs. Whereas Ishaan is a gentle, good natured IT professional from a joint family living a simple life. In the Bengali ogo bodhu sundori, almost all the casts have the same name except Suhana is Lalita,Sanjana is Labanya and Ilesh is Imon.
Ishaan and Suhana get married on their family's insistence. The marriage starts on a disastrous note. Suhana admits that she doesn't have any feelings for Ishaan. Ishaan gives his wife time and tries his best to win her heart. She soon begins to admire her nice and kind natured husband. Suhana slowly begins to discover her husband. As each day passes by he becomes more endearing to her. She slowly falls in love with him and they develop a strong and ever lasting marital bond.
It also shows how a girl from a modern nuclear family adjusts in a traditional joint family and forms a loving bond with them. Having lost her mother at a very young age, Suhana experiences mother's love from her mother-in-law. This show is laced with warmth, kindness and humour and is mainly about human emotions and relationships.[1][2]
