"Mr. Saxobeat"
Song

"Mr. Saxobeat" is a single by Romanian recording artist Alexandra Stan, released in 2011. The song was a success in Romania, remaining at number one on the Romanian Top 100 for eight consecutive weeks, being the longest-running #1 in Romania in the 2010s. The song is Stan's third single from her upcoming debut album. The song has became her most successful single to date and her first to chart outside of Romania. "Mr. Saxobeat" is an up-tempo eurodance song with house elements. The song contains a love message, where Stan speaks of a man she is attracted to and the way he makes her move. The music video shows Stan being arrested, thrown in jail, and seducing a guard to escape. It was shot in MediaPro Studios, Buftea, next to Bucharest. The song has charted in many countires across Europe including a number-one status for many weeks in the Italian Singles Chart, in Denmark and in Slovakia and within the top ten in other sixteen counties, including a peak of number-five in the UK Singles Chart. Outside Europe, the song peaked at number twenty-five in the Canadian Hot 100, at number-thirteen inside the US Latin Pop Songs and right on the top of the US Hot Dance Airplay Chart, being the third Romanian act to do so, after Inna and Edward Maya ft. Vika Jigulina. It is also a current hit in Latin America.

Composition

"Mr. Saxobeat" is an up-tempo eurodance song with elements of house. The song features a saxophone throughout and uses some trance beats. It was produced by Romanian record producer Marcel Prodan while being written by Prodan and André Nemirschi.

Lyrically, the song is about Stan trying to attract a man whom she is in love with. She speaks of him making her dance and "move like a freak."

The song's spin-off is called "Get Back (ASAP)", and it serves as Stan's forthcoming single!

Critical reception

Illvibes said they liked what they were hearing and called the song "infectious".[2]

Music video

The video begins with scenes of police officers bringing a handcuffed Stan into a police station and bringing her up to a room to interrogate her and two of her friends. Stan and her friends are then placed in a jail cell where Stan seduces the guard and takes his gun, before locking him inside the cell while her and her friends escape. The group enters a dressing room where they find police outfits and disguise themselves as officers. They then go out and hold the police chief and other workers at gun point. Stan and her friends then walk unnoticed through the front lobby and out of the building.

Live performance

Stan performed the song at the New Year's Eve L!ve Revolution, along with her previous hit "Lollipop." Her performance received a positive review by MTV, calling Stan the most courageous performer at the show.[4] The song was also performed during her promo tour in Canada, France and Spain.
