Atif Aslam (Template:Lang-ur; born in Wazirabad, Punjab, Pakistan as Muhammad Atif Aslam) is a Pakistani pop singer and film actor. His debut as an actor was in the 2011 film Pakistani movie Bol. He has generated numerous chart-topping songs,[1] and is known for his vocal belting technique.[2] Atif is a recipient for the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan's highest civilian decorations. He was also awarded with Brandlaureate International Brand Personality Award[3] in Malaysia for his contributions towards enhancement of the well being of society.

Early life

Atif was born in Wazirabad, of Gujranwala District, Punjab, in Pakistan and educated in Lahore & Rawalpindi.[4] Atif went to kindergarten at Kimberley Hall School, Lahore. In 1991 he moved to Rawalpindi where he continued his studies in St Paul's School. Atif came back to Lahore in 1995 where he continued his studies in Divisional Public School, Lahore. He started his FSC in PAF Inter College Lahore. Atif is also a holder of a Bachelor's degree.

Concerts & Tours

His first stage performance was in a fancy dress show at his school where he performed as Imran Khan, the former captain of Pakistan national cricket team. Atif's collaborative performances include his tour of USA and Canada with RDB and Annie. Atif did his debut concert in New Jersey in Summer Beats 2008 that also featured Kailash Kher, Richa Sharma & Amanat Ali with 40 musicians and dancers at Sovereign Bank Arena NJ.[5] After a sold out concert in New Jersey, Atif returned with his band and special guests to Queens Colden Center, New York after 6 years with same promoters to perform on July 2, 2010[6] with special attention to Sound, Light and the whole production to give the audience a memorable experience.

North America saw Aslam & Shreya Ghoshal on their March, 2010 Tour of 10 shows in USA and Canada which got a huge success & inspired the organizers to conduct shows again in six more cities.[7] Same year in April, Atif was also seen at Anthony Nesty Sports Hall, Suriname in South America.[8]

Aslam also performed with Sunidhi Chauhan for the first time at Hershey Centre, Mississauga[9] followed by another show at Oracle Arena, San Francisco, Oakland[10] in July 2011 during their USA & Canada tour.

Atif headlined in the Flex FX Dhamaka[11] alongside Jay Sean at Royal Albert Hall. He recently performed in London's O2 Arena on 22 April 2012 at the Flex FX Production's Dhamaka[12] Bollywood Concert with Naz Choudhury[13] and his Bolly Flex team to promote love, peace & unity among India and Pakistan becoming the first Pakistani pop singer to perform on The O2 Arena stage. His debut concert in Bangkok took place in October 2012[14] along side three other Thai-Indian bands. Aslam will also be performing in 10 Major cities of Pakistan during his Jazz Jazba Generation Tour [15] where an exclusive backstage footage of Atif Aslam's experience during the tour, his interactions with his fans and intimate look at the man behind the superstar will be filmed for the very first time.

Atif has three songs featured in a Hollywood Movie, Man Push Cart which has won several international awards and was praised by critics.[16] His two more songs ‘Doorie‘ and ‘Maula‘ from his second album Doorie have been picked up for the soundtrack of the Hindi Version of a Mexican film La mujer de mi hermano directed by Ricardo de Montreuil in 2010.[17]

Acting career

Atif made his acting debut in the 2011 Pakistani movie Bol [18]. He also made a special appearance in film songs such as Tere Bin, Pehli Nazar Mein and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya's song's Piya O Re Piya and Tu Mohabbat Hai.

Television

Atif is currently appearing as a judge in a singing talent show called Sur Kshetra which was shot & being broadcasted from Dubai where Indian & Pakistani contestants are competing against each other. He is also scouting Pakistan team as their captain in the same show.[19]
