Insanity
Insanity
Insanity is a workout regimen similar to P90X in that it claims to improve fitness in 60 days through strenuous stamina training. Developed by Shaun T., Insanity's advertising emphasizes "max interval training", a method of exercising during which one works out strenuously for 3–4 minutes and then rests or "cools down" for approximately 30 seconds before starting the whole process over again. This is more intense than traditional interval training, during which participants alternate mild and strenuous exercise for roughly equal lengths of time. This program claims to promote noticeable results through core strength, as well as intense cardio training.

Beachbody LLC is an American multinational corporation that uses multi-level marketing[2] to sell fitness, weight loss, and muscle building home-exercise DVDs. The company's best-known product is Tony Horton's P90X, and Shaun T's Insanity, whose TV ads have become some of the most frequently run infomercials in the United States.[3]

History

Founded in 1998, Beachbody was founded by Carl Daikeler and Jon Congdon in Santa Monica, California. The company offers a variety of different in-home health and fitness products, including the well-known Insanity program by fitness expert Shaun T. and P90X exercise program developed by fitness expert Tony Horton. The company focuses on adhering to four core values: 1. Commit and deliver on your promises. 2. Treat people with respect and be courageously forthright. 3. Take initiative to improve everything. 4. Work with passion, enthusiasm, and common sense.

Team Beachbody and Beachbody Coaches

In addition to the health and fitness products from Beachbody, they also have an online support community, “Team Beachbody.” Features of Team Beachbody include newsletters, meal planners, discounts on products, an online community, and access to “Team Beachbody coaches,” which are available to guide the member through their fitness and/or weight loss goals. Membership features vary based on the level of membership.

Teach Beachbody Coaches help members during their weight loss and exercise process by providing direction and support. Beachbody Coaches are considered product experts that can help select workout programs, equipment, and supplements.

Certification Programs

Beachbody offers two trainer certification programs – P90X and Insanity. The P90X certification program includes two days of hands-on and classroom training. Attendees also receive a P90X Course Manual covering program structure, 12 workouts, body mechanics, nutrition, supplementation, and the science associated with the P90X program. Certification program attendees also have access to the P90X Qualification Online Learning Program. Continuing Education Units/Credits: NASM 1.9 CEUs; ISSA 13 CEUs.

The Insanity certification program is a one-day program that walks the participant through a complete pre-designed workout for a 30-minute or a 50-minute class. It also focuses on proper exercise form and best practices. Additionally, the training demonstrates options for modifications so class moves can be adapted for students at all levels. Attendees receive a Certification Course manual that includes an instructor’s DVD, cueing sheet, and CD for use during classes.

P90X

P90X is a 90 day workout regimen developed by Tony Horton that claims it can significantly improve fitness in three months through intense physical training. P90X's advertising emphasizes "muscle confusion", a method of cross-training and periodization achieved through switching the order of exercises and incorporating new and varied movements.[4] Muscle confusion supposedly prevents the body from adapting to exercises over time, resulting in continual improvement without plateaus.

In December 2013, Beachbody released P90X3. P90X3 incorporates yoga, mixed martial arts, Pilates and plyometrics in a 90-day program which includes 16 new routines.[5]

P90X2

P90X2 was released in December 2011 and was developed for individuals who completed the original P90X program as well as athletes.[6] The P90X2 program utilizes an approach referred to as Muscle Integration.[7] Muscle Integration refers to performing exercises that use muscle groups at the same time to complete the movements correctly.[8] The P90X2 focuses on strength training, functional training, and resistance exercise.[9]
