Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism - All changes to this article since late September have been either IP or new account vandalism, and the activity continues at a slow, but fairly regular rate. LaMenta3 (talk) 18:32, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary move protection: Part of the Cyprus/Northern Cyprus conflicts with emotions running high and a move war looming. The Banner talk 18:24, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: The page has been named "Karavostasi" from 2009 until The Banner moved it to "Gemikonagi" yesterday. So which title should be protected? --T*U (talk) 18:40, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There's no 'move war' looming unless you're about to initiate one. Your undiscussed move was reverted, and that was that. What utter nonsense. 213.7.147.34 (talk) 18:55, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Has been subjected to IP vandalism recently. SagaciousPhil - Chat 18:14, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Content dispute between similar IPs and autoconfirmed editors. George Ho (talk) 18:10, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection IP users continuing an edit war (which resulted in User:BlueboyLI being blocked) without participating in Talk discussion. 24 hours of semi-protection (to get past election) would be helpful. Thank you.CFredkin (talk) 17:09, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection User:Aiman851 keeps uploading non-free images to replace a free image in a biographical article. Timmyshin (talk) 16:53, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. In this case, we do protect articles, we block the user. However, looking at their talk page and at the talk page of the article, I do not see any evidence that anybody tried to explain him the policies. Please try, and if explanation fails, report him (possibly citing this thread) for edit-warring. But not before they get a chance to understand that their edits are not appropriate.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:00, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Edit Warring. Rahat (Talk * Contributions) 16:32, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Article continues to get vandalized by NY-based IPs, typically in the 74.* range. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. This vandal has also vandalized PBS Kids, which has resulted in that article being protected. The general routine is to add unsourced future content about a program called Cyberchase appearing on the network in 2015, which is clearly not something they can know or confirm. If page protection ain't preferable, I'll settle for a range block! :) Requesting 2 week protection from IPs otherwise. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:50, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protected – 2 months. EdJohnston (talk) 16:10, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite full protection: full protection for page of deceased Wikipedian per WP:DWG. Psychonaut (talk) 13:10, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Full protection: Persistent vandalism – A lot of IP addresses and users are vandalising this article. pushing pov with baseless references on worldwide gross. The page was earlier nominated for deletion. protection is requested to expedite and stop vandalism. Danice thrall (talk) 11:30, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection : Despite recent consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sysyphus that this article should remain as a redirect to Ummagumma, IPs still revert back to the largely unsourced version with original research without any edit summary and talk page discussion. Examples [1], [2], [3], [4] Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:34, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template protection: WP:HIGHRISK template that is widely transcluded. This edit shows why protection is necessary. TDL (talk) 06:29, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template protected indefinitely. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:50, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Apparently a small group of idiots think it's funny to keep noting that this actor is married to a particular co-star. This has been ongoing today and may continue. Thank you. Chanceofrainne (talk) 05:38, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Already protected by administrator Drmies. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:47, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A lot of IP addresses are vandalising this article. Anyway, this is currently a hit song, thus vandalisms will be common too. DEW. Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 03:15, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:45, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP hopping user keeps making bizarre changes to articles related to VeggieTales. Here, here and here three different IPs keep removing real-world content about actors voicing specific roles, and instead replace them with in-universe content like "Larry the Cucumber as Himself" and "Scooter Carrot as Horatio" User can't be reasoned with, and this sort of vandalism has been occurring off-and-on in articles related to VeggieTales for a few years, I believe. (See logs for VeggieTales) Requesting long-term protection from IPs and non-autoconfirmed users. Thanks. . Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:54, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:44, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. I dream of horses (T) @ 01:45, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:42, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. I dream of horses (T) @ 01:44, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:40, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive edits – IP's constantly changing correct format and vandalism. LLArrow (talk) 01:28, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:39, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – edit warring. The Banner talk 01:05, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Already protected by administrator Bilby. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:37, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite full protection: Constant and frequent vandalism. Blanking of the page repeatedly, personal attacks and childish commentary, etc. 79.141.162.19 (talk) 01:00, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Already protected by administrator Ronhjones. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:35, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent unsourced additions. Snuggums (talk / edits) 00:47, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:33, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – New Jersey-based IPs keep disrupting this article and others related to VeggieTales by removing normal content like an actor's name and his role, and replacing it with in-universe content like this and this in which we learn that Jimmy Gourd plays Bob Gourd, and a cucumber plays himself. Requesting 3 day protection from IPs to send a message. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:58, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 10 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:02, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

A rolling archive of the last seven days of protection requests can be found at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Rolling archive.
