John Mosely Turner (Mitcham, South London, 15 June 1856 – Tottenham, 21 March 1968)[1] was a British supercentenarian and the oldest recognised living person for more than two years.[2]

Biography

Born in Mitcham, Turner was a former silk print cutter, and teetotaller. He had been blind since the age of 73.[3] Turner died at his home in Tottenham at age 111 years, 280 days. His record as the oldest verified British man ever was surpassed by John Evans in 1989 and his record as the oldest Englishman ever was surpassed by Henry Allingham in 2008.[4]
