History of Lithuania 1219-1377

Dear Renate: have begun copyediting this. Hope to finish by tonight. I already have one question: the first paragraph states that "the empire reached ALMOST to the Black Sea", but the map definitely shows the Black Sea within the territory. Including Kiev.

Novickas 13:14, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Is there any chance of getting a map that shows territory in 1377? If not, the opening paragraph could be reworded.. something like "the groundwork was laid for an empire that would by 1400 reach to the Black Sea". Then the picture caption could be a little reworded and it would still be appropriate for the piece. I like the piece, by the way. Always had trouble with that part of the history and it's now making more sense.
Taking a break now; edited all but the last 3 paragraphs, cause they seemed not quite ready. After a break maybe more questions will occur, fresh eyes and all that. Hope you're not in a terrible hurry. Talk later - Novickas 17:33, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok, some more questions. What are long coins? Were they really not round? Re "attacked Courland, as the order had limited battlefield successes"...is that the Teutonic Knights? In general.. I think it would be better if the orders were always named. Novickas 20:08, 17 September 2006 (UTC) PS a timeline would be really nice - you know, a table of dates and their corresponding events.
more questions: Line that begins "In 1248, Mindaugas sent his nephews Tautvilas and Edivydas, the sons of Dausprungas and Vykintas," .. if Edivydas was Mindaugas' nephew, then Vykintas was Mindaugas' brother or brother-in-law?
Line that begins "in 1212, Daugirutis' treaty with Navahradak" needs some clarification as to who Daugirutis was - a duke of Samogitia?
Needs a little more explananation about "bribing Andreas von Stierland" - the text in the footnote "jei bus nužudytas Tautvila" could be translated something like "bribed..to arrange Tautvila's murder". Shocking allegation.
Line with "attacked Courland, as the order had limited battlefield successes" would that be "The Brethren of the Sword"? that is what the Courland link suggests.
Line with "expressed the wish to marry Daumantas' wife" - Daumantas has not been mentioned before; could we say "Duke Daumantas" or "the wife of Daumantas, the Duke of x".
the long coins picture is really cool, any chance it could be included? Novickas 12:47, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Aciu for the award. I promise that I intend to continue to expanding articles in the future and I wouldn’t be derailed from this patch very easily. Thanks again M.K. 09:17, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cool down

Dear Renata. I sincerly hope your message on conflict resolution and deletion of your user page don't mean you are quiting this project. The informal mediation which I tried was just the begining of a proper WP:DR. I have seen tougher issues dealth with, and although I may not see 100% eye to eye with it, please, don't leave us. We need editors like you to stay and be the voice of sanity to the rest of us.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  04:24, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Huh?

September 12/18 are truly said days for Wikipedia. :-( Take a break, and recall the advice you once gave me: breathe and relax, and above all, remember your special training ;-) I hope you do come back. (Sorry for not noticing earlier.) Lupo 08:16, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not another one... How many good editors are we going to lose this week? -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 08:30, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just noticed that Renata's edits do not appear on my watchlist anymore:( That sounds like a big loss to all of Wikipedia. I hope you'll rethink your position after some time, although cannot say, that I didn't have similar thoughts about leaving more than once.--Lokyz 12:35, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sad too. You welcomed me to Wikipedia! (And I just assumed then that you were an admin.) I understand the feeling of "enough is enough", though. Perhaps after a break you'll come back. I'll be thinking about you. --Fang Aili talk 15:24, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Petition

This is truly surprise to me that Renata is leaving. If this is due to personal life, well, we all facing setbacks and gains in our personal life and actually this is a beauty of life – it keeps as strong and prepares for future challenges. Actually this is human nature and destiny, sometimes we can not avoid or change our destiny, but we can meet it with dignity, with risen head and with the clear mind – yes it is hard, but I wouldn’t give up and will go, I will go on!!!!

If it’s due to wikipedia developments, everything is possible and could be solved any problem, sooner or later. If this is a case – take a short break, but don’t leave us! You simply can’t do this!

And remember, Renata, when you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on…

By signing below editors from all the Wikipedia asking you, Renata, to stay:

  4. Please come back and stay! Juraune 05:25, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-petition

For God's sake don't be so melodramatic - petitions, sighs, obituaries. C'mon. She's an adult, she knows what she's doing. And, boy, that Airing of Grievances by Renata was great. I could only dream, that some will follow her example one day and will let the grievances out in one go, instead of dragging their egotistic traumas for ages from one Talk-page to another. If she decides to quit this S/M scene, that's great. Go girl, there is more to life than Wiki. Run like a hell and never look back. But she will be back in one form, or another - as admin, or anonymous just browsing passerby, it does not matter. See ya Renata. Encyclopaedia Editing Dude 16:18, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is actually true. Renata's candidness in her farewell "speech" is rarely seen in this place. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 20:28, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear petitioners. Please save your pleas. Renata will be back. Sometimes Wikibreaks are needed. Let her have hers. She will come back rested and determined to save Lithuanian history from the foreign nationalist revisionism :). No irony here. Who else? Cheers all! --Irpen 06:05, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Loosing Renata for this project actually does matter, but I respect any decision, she choses to make. Renata, you have done a lot of good things here, do now, what serves you best. Best regards, --Gf1961 19:44, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Renata?

A few words from you would be so welcome. Just let us know you're OK. Novickas 22:39, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

I can confirm she's doing fine. However, I got the impression she'd rather like not to be disturbed at the moment. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 14:32, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
