History

SiteGround was founded in 2004 in Sofia by a few university friends.[3] In January 2015, Joomla offered free hosted website solution on Joomla.com in partnership with SiteGround.[4] As of 2017, it had offices in Sofia, Stara Zagora, Madrid and Plovdiv.[3]

Server infrastructure and setup

According to the company's website, in September 2019, it had 5 data centers in 4 countries: the United States, the Netherlands, UK, and Singapore.[5] SiteGround runs CentOS, Apache, MySQL, PHP and WHM/cPanel on its servers.[6] The company has developed software solutions for account isolation, monitoring and reaction, and speed-optimization, sold under the 1H brand and used by other Linux hosting companies.[citation needed] SiteGround uses SSD (Solid-state drives) to store data.[7]

Products and services

SiteGround provides web hosting services for WordPress, Joomla, Magento, Drupal, PrestaShop and WooCommerce websites.[8][9][7] It also has a Weebly connector.[10] SiteGround has a reputation for very good uptime.[11][7]

Partners

SiteGround partners with multiple companies such as SingleHop, SoftLayer, CloudFlare,[12] OpenSRS, cPanel, GlobalSign, Softaculous, 1H, Spam Experts,[13], Open Classifieds, and Printful[14].

Kyup

In 2014 part of the SiteGround team began working on Kyup, a side-project that would allow the company to focus on the more technically-oriented markets of developers and devops.[15]
