Suggestions

Also, a few of my suggestions:
  • Remove citations from lead per WP:CITELEAD
  • Try to make the article have a better flow. Some sentences are quite short and can easily be merged with other sentences.
  • Expand the infobox: There are many more parameters that can be filled there; there isn't even a link to the website!
  • External links should go above references (at least I believe)
  • In § Development, it seems to read as more a timeline than an actual paragraph
  • There are some sections that can easily be merged, for example § Players, is this really worth a whole section?
  • This is just my opinion, but the article seems to go into a bit too much detail. All of the sets include a code that can be used to redeem virtual items.
Once again, just some of my opinions, I may be completely wrong! — Yours, Berrely • TalkContribs 09:05, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Berrely, I've implemented a couple of your suggestions, there is a bit of a problem with LEADCITE, since most of the content in the lead is not actually cited elsewhere in the article, we have to keep the citations there for now, or otherwise it would fail WP:V. I'm not entirely sure how to fix that at the moment, but expanding the "Development" section (which is definitely the weakest one IMO) to include a more general overview of the history of Roblox might help, and would also help with the other problems with that section. I am fairly sure, from looking at a few prominent articles, that References are supposed to be above external links though. Devonian Wombat (talk) 03:46, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Devonian Wombat, sorry for replying so late! Apologies I was viewing on mobile and got confused by the references, you are correct on that front. The reason there shouldn't be citations in the lead is that the lead is meant to relay information already said in the article, but this is not a huge problem. Good job on massively improving this article (really comparing the current article from when you first edited it and now is astounding)! — Yours, Berrely • TalkContribs 09:19, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I may upload it, however, if someone else wants to, in the press kit corp.roblox.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Logo_Roblox.zip, contains the branding guidelines, with a vector version of the logo. — Yours, Berrely • TalkContribs 09:10, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I started to look into this, and I'm not sure we should be changing anything. Roblox's actual website hasn't been updated yet, and this is touted as the logo for "Roblox Studio". Is it a company logo? The logo for the development software? The logo used on the page should be the one presents for the game client. -- ferret (talk) 13:15, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret Roblox Studio is a product developed by Roblox for creating games on its framework. It is its own application, seperate from Roblox. It would make sense for a new page about studio, but I'm not sure whether it passes notability guidelines. The Roblox developer forum has been updated with the new logo, in the "2D" version devforum.roblox.com/ (roblox.com is blacklisted so I can't directly link it). — Yours, Berrely • TalkContribs 15:23, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Right, so I don't think we should update a logo here on this article at this time. I don't believe the development program itself is independently notable though. Roblox is a weird topic though. -- ferret (talk) 15:25, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, likely better to wait a bit until the logo is more widely adopted. For now, here are the highest quality logos I could find: https://doy2mn9upadnk.cloudfront.net/user_avatar/devforum.roblox.com/roblox/1000/1564063_2.png. Roblox, technically does not use Lua, but a custom scripting language called luau which is based off Lua 5.1. [1] Darubrub (talk) 14:29, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is consesus on the Roblox devforum that the scripting language is indeed Luau, not Lua. Darubrub (talk) 18:58, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Add a note to single player:

Even though most roblox games are multiplayer, it is possible to make single-player games by capping the server to just one player.

And thats it. Darubrub (talk) 18:28, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The source you provided is a primary source that is associated with the article's subject. Also, the second statement also needs a source. Gaioa (T C L) 18:52, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Gaioa They have a repository that states that it is indeed luau. There is also this that converts TypeScript code to, guess what, Luau. And on the second option, Ok. Darubrub (talk) 19:50, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding partnership with 10-cent and the Chinese government

Roblox wen't live I believe 3 days ago, which of course men't they partnered with the 10-cent and Chinese Government organization, you should add that, and add the controversies around it, like how many people don't want to work with China, because of there human rights violations. Splitting off Roblox Corporation

Looking over the article, I'm noticing a disconnect between the content about the actual video game Roblox, and the content about the company of the Roblox Corporation. The information about Roblox Corp. becoming a publicly listed company, as well as the stuff around its evaluation, is starting to bloat the article somewhat. As such, I reckon it would be a good idea to split off information about the Roblox Corporation into its own seperate article, leaving this article solely about the platform. Thoughts? Devonian Wombat (talk) 22:40, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@IceWelder: might have some thoughts here with his work on corporate articles. -- ferret (talk) 22:55, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This will be worth a shot if there is enough information available. There have been a lot of sources regarding the IPO, so notability is likely. This would help sever the game and non-development-related aspects. At the very least, it could be a secluded section outside of the game's development history, as is currently the case. I might draw up a draft in the coming days. Regards, IceWelder [] 20:15, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Devonian Wombat and Ferret: I remembered this today and stitched together some sources at Roblox Corporation. There was not as much info available as I would have liked, but I think it is just enough for a small article. Consequently, I removed some corporate-focused info from this article. Please check whether more content needs to be moved. IceWelder [] 18:35, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Roblox IPO announced on or about March 10

Business Insider, The Wall Street Journal, and other sources mentioned that Roblox plans to go public on or about March 10. I think it would be helpful to include this information. Adopt Me! Main article: Adopt Me! Adopt Me! is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game where the nominal focus is players pretending to be either parents adopting a child, or children getting adopted, though the de facto focus is around adopting and caring for many different pets, who can be traded with other players.[81] One of Robloxes biggest moment is when the "Dress Your Pets" update launched on the game "Adopt Me". The game reached over 1 million concurrent players and reaching an all time high of 1.6 million players, the most Roblox had ever had. This in turn crashed the Roblox servers. Many Roblox players wanted "Adopt Me" to be banned from Roblox.[121] As of July 2020, the game had been played upwards of ten billion times.[82] Adopt Me! was averaging 600,000 concurrent players as of June 2020, making it the most popular game on Roblox.[81] Due to the high cost of pets within the game, with some rare pets selling for up to US$100, a large subculture of scammers has risen up within the game. As the primary user base of Adopt Me! is on average younger than the rest of Roblox, they are especially susceptible to falling for scams.[83][84] DreamCraft, the organization behind the game, has accumulated over $16 million in revenue, mostly from microtransactions.[85][86]

Not sure if there is actual controversy related to the thing I'm going to talk about or if just me and a few other people hate it but I think it might be worth adding if there is actual controversy related to it. The thing I'm talking about is the addition of the Rthro style for players character (known as Robloxians). I'm not sure if there is actual controversy related to the addition of this because I have no clue where I would start looking. There's a chance that it's just me and a few other people hating how it looks and it's not very controversial at all. But if someone could please help me out in finding whether or not there is controversy related to the addition of Rthro and adding it to the article (if it belongs in the article) I'd like that. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 20:19, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Blaze The Wolf and welcome to Wikipedia. As with all your posts below, content on Wikipedia requires a reliable source to be added (to prevent people from just making things up). This content can't be added as you unfortunately haven't provided a reliable source for your content. Please find a source and reply to this thread with it, as to see if this can be added to the article. — Yours, Berrely • TalkContribs 17:05, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tix under virtual currency

Roblox used to have a second, free, virtual currency known as Tickets (commonly abbreviated to Tix), which was an alternative to Robux that players would earn a set amount once a day. While Robux required you to have a paid membership to earn it Tix was earned by all players. Roblox removed it sometime in I think 2014 although I could be wrong since its been a while since it happened. I feel like Tix should be added to the Virtual Currency section of the articles. Or it could be a part of a separate sub section of Virtual Currency which would be "Defunct Virtual Currency". But I do think information on Tix should be added. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 20:35, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Blaze The Wolf: I added it. Take a look and let me know what you think. I know nothing about the game, so hopefully my explanation is accurate. Urve (talk) 17:07, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Source I used is probably not reliable. Put in a request to lift the blacklist for a certain blog post by the developers. But I don't think it particularly matters. Urve (talk) 17:31, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Urvel:I think it would be helpful to specify that tix was discontinued in 2016 and when specifically. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 19:10, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Roblox Games Should Be Their Own Articles.

I think that Roblox gams should be their own articles. Yes, they may be a bit short, but they're still they're own game, technically. Roblox isn't a game, it's a gaming platform. Steam's games have they're own articles. You can play Roblox games, spend money, interact with that games' specific community like any other game. Idk, may just be me. Pain is fantastic (talk) 15:42, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so. THere are tons of games on Roblox. If we were to make a page for every single one there would be millions of stubs and copies of articles because some games are literal copies. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 19:18, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Blaze the Wolf. Most of them will be stubs and a lot of them will get deleated form Wikipedia. Also, a lot of them need reliable sources in order for the pages to stay on Wikipedia. It's better if we don't make Roblox game pages on Wikipedia until they have reliable sources. JennilyW (talk) 19:57, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
