Faruk Fatih Ozer (born 1993 or 1994) is a Turkish criminal, former cryptocurrency trader and former fugitive.
Foudned Thodex exchange, before it's 2021 collapse. Was sentenced to 11,196 in prison in 2023.
Biography
Born 1993 or 1994[1] two brothers Serap and Guven.[2]
Dropped out of high school.[3]
He founded Thodex in Istanbul[4] in 2017.[1]
Grew to become one of Turkey's biggest crypto exchanges before collapsing in April 2021.[1] Became a celebrity in Turkey, photographed associating with politicians Mevlut Cavusoglu and Suleyman Soylu.[5]
Fled Turkey to Albania on 20 April 2021.[6] Authorities launched an investigation 22 April.[6] accusing the company of defrauding 390,000 investors of approximately US$2 billion.[7]
After an April 2021 Interpol arrest warrant,[4] Arrested there on August 30.[8][9] Extradited to Turkey in April 2023.[10]
On 7 September 2023,[10] 11,196 years in prison in September 2023, after being found guilty of various charges including fraud. [10]Was tried with his two brothers[10] who received similar sentences.[3]
