Dean R. Peters (August 22, 1958-December 15, 1998) was a professional wrestler, best known for his appearances with the World Championship Wrestling and Pacific Northwest Wrestling as Brady Boone and his short run in the World Wrestling Federation as BattleKat. After his retirement, he became a referee for WCW during the late 1990s. After refereeing at a WCW event in Orlando, Florida, he died in a car accident.

Career

Dean Peters graduated from Robbinsdale High School (were he was captain of the gymnastics team) in 1976 along with other future wrestling stars Curt Hennig,[1] Tom Zenk[2] and Rick Rude.[3] Other future wrestling stars John Nord[1] and Nikita Koloff[1] (class of 1977) as well as Barry Darsow[1] (class of 1978) attended RHS with Peters.[4]

Peters started his career in 1984 working for Don Owen's NWA Pacific Northwest Wrestling promotion.[5] He went by the name "Brady Boone" and was billed as the cousin of Billy Jack Haynes.[5] In 1986 Boone won the NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Championship twice, once with Coco Samoa and once with Ricky Santana.[5]

In the late 1980s Peters went to work for WWF as the first "Battle Kat" where he received a small push.[5][6] Upon leaving the WWF Boone wrestled in the Global Wrestling Federation as the "Fire Cat."[6] He later wrestled in the Florida area where he won the Suncoast Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship with Jerry Lynn.[7] In 1991 Peters competed at Universal Wrestling Federation's only PPV, UWF Beach Brawl.

In the late 1990s Peters worked as a referee for WCW. On December 15, 1998 while driving home to Tampa, Florida from a WCW television taping in Orlando, Peters died in an automobile accident.[5][6]
