El Centro, in the context of Seville, Spain, is a catch-all term used to refer to the large historical center of Seville (the largest of any European city). It is coterminous with a city district Casco Antiguo, and actually contains many neighborhoods, or parts of neighborhoods. Often these are just a handful of streets around a particular plaza. Some of these are listed below:
- El Arenal
- La Macarena
- La Alameda
- Campana
- Encarnacion
- Alfalfa
- Santa Cruz
- Plaza de Armas
- San Lorenzo
It should be noted that the Ayuntamiento (municipal government) has a distinct notion of neighborhood layout than that traditionally possessed by most residents.
