== Adopter or adoptee? ==

EVula, I don't know if I'm closer to being an adopter or adoptee--I think I'm somewhere in between. I would like to help new users, but don't know if I'm yet experienced enough to do so adequately. I would like to receive help from an experienced editor, but don't want to take away a less-experienced editor's chance at receiving help. In any case, if you aren't too busy, I could use your help and suggestions! (By the way, I find it amusing that while your first edit was about Betty Page, it was a spelling correction relating to something showing her brains!) [[User:Wakedream|Wakedream]] ([[User talk:Wakedream|talk]]) 07:25, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Revision as of 07:25, 13 March 2008

This is EVula's talk page, which shouldn't be a surprise if you clicked the link...

My general guidelines:
  • If I (EVula) left you a comment on your talk page, please just respond there, not here, so that conversations aren't spread out. Similarly, if you post something here, I will respond here.
  • Place new comments after existing ones (but within topic sections).
  • Separate topic sections with ==A descriptive header==, and put new topics at the bottom of the page.

You know me, too

You can add me to your list of people you know here (though I haven't contributed in ages).

See you Monday! Lane Wright (talk) 00:23, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Newish User

Hello, I've been poking around the Wiki and I've eventually found myself wound up on your page.

I've read that you're quite an experienced user, and was wondering if you could possibly give me the tour de force of Wikipedia, showing me the ropes and the like? I understand if you can't, I know you're a very busy guy.

Thanks! --DevilAshTalk! 23:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jennifer Hudson picture to languages on Wikipedia

You can add Image:Jennifer Hudson.jpg to the multi-language wikipedias' infoboxes, because I really don't have time to add them to all of the language wikis. Cheers. miranda 01:51, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, I already did this. miranda 10:41, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Damn, I'd already opened up all the links in tabs last night, planning to do it this morning. Oh well... I would have gotten hell from someone in particular if I'd told her I was going to be on Wikipedia instead of talking to her. :) EVula // talk // // 14:43, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship

I plan on going through it again soon. I will add 1000+ edits over tonight alone. (I won't sleep. I don't plan on it)Undeath (talk) 15:37, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good, but keep in mind that there's more to adminship than just raw numbers; people are more willing to support someone that displays a firm grasp of when and how to enforce Wikipedia policy than someone who can generate several thousand edits in a very short period of time. EVula // talk // // 15:45, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I believe I have the grasp of policies, but I just don't have the numbers yet. How long, do you suggest, that I wait until my next submission? (Please post your reply on my talk page)Undeath (talk) 16:21, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

      • I was told that three months might also suffice, but time will tell. I'm starting to take part in AFC too. The reason I was not active during October-November was a relative of mine was diagnosed with cancer. I was helping his family during that period. This is my normal activity rate.Undeath (talk) 19:19, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure where else to ask, but…

Can I host the old contents of ev-nova.net on my website, now that the domain is down? I would especially like to keep the Walkthroughs alive. Currently I can only find them here. — Nicholas (reply) @ 22:41, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Concern from Sesshomaru

Hey EVula, glad to see you again. This user, Amaechi Okoli (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log), is creating a lot of ridiculous redirects. See their contributions. I noticed this after warning the user for re-creating THE GREATEST QUEST OF ALL. Can you check it out? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:58, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What to do if a user refuses to leave edit summaries? See the user Alexander Vince, he's already been told about it before. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 05:39, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Keep Category:Living People empty

Hi, I saw one of your activities including ' Keep Category:Living People empty ' .. As a admin, why dont you put this cat to CFD and delete it ?

- Tinucherian (talk) 10:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's supposed to be a redirect, and it would leave dead links when editors add that category to articles mistakenly. Ideally, redirects are supposed to have all pages pointing to them updated to reflect the correct link, though that's a large task, and this just happens to be his category pet peeve, I imagine. Congratulations!

You've made my quote page, which is definitely one of the most coveted [citation needed] quote pages around. A talkpage post that you've made recently made me laugh hysterically in its unusual level of wittiness, dryness, sarcasm, illustration, delivery, timing, and/or good ol' fashion lightheartedness. Thanks for brightening up the place! You can view your quote, in all its glory, preserved for history, here. Cheers, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 15:39, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies...

...but I'm not sure you read my reason for reporting User:70.241.201.64. There is a user, User:Bjbarnett2, who has been making exactly these same edits to Public Broadcasting Service and was blocked for it. Now, suddenly, up pops our IP user, making exactly the same edit the user was blocked for. Would you please reconsider? If you look at the article history, you'll see he's very persistent, and since blocks are preventative, I'm thinking this would be a good one.
