Ahhh prots

You put a prot on my favourite page. If any additions get stuck into it from any "new single purpose accounts" can I get you to do my standard "cleanup re: lead-in" edit to help maintain the integrity of the list? 156.34.231.56 (talk) 16:37, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kurt Cobain

If his first experience with marijuana was in 1980, that would have made him 13, seeing as he was born in 1967. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RoseInWinter (talkcontribs) 17:04, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That source is incredibly biased and unreliable. You can't use it. Please try and find a source that meets WP:RS. ScarianCall me Pat 17:06, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. But I know for sure that he said in one Rolling Stone interview that his stomach wasn't bothering him anymore. I just need to dig it up, but Justice for Kurt does offer citations for quotes.

The basic math stands. 1980-1967 is 13, not 14. You can't spell it out any more than that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RoseInWinter (talkcontribs) 17:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help!

Hey Scarian,

I wanted to stop by and say thanks for taking such an interest in helping to figure things out with User:Yosemitesam25. I know it's difficult to step into conflicts like this--I've been keeping an eye on it for a while and am still struggling to keep up--but I just wanted to let you know that your help is appreciated. --jonny-mt 12:55, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I did opt for a Hawaiian article ban first but another admin pointed me in the direction of WP:1RR. Thanks for the note, friend. Message me if you need anything (Specifically, mediation on any Hawaiian related articles where the said user has been involved). Take care! ScarianCall me Pat 13:01, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

you are failing at your duty as an administrator to see that i had made a good faith compromise attepmt with chrisb but chrisb just responded with sarcasm and i see you have taken sides and i will contact another adminstrator to handle this issue being i see you have your biases as i can see you are showing me the 3 revert rule warning mean while the one chrisb started the revert first and i tried to make a good faith attempt on his page to resolve the issue thats a nono scarian--Wikiscribe (talk) 17:00, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

scarian i did discuss it look at chrisb talk page you are totaly missing the point i made a good faith attepmt to resolve the issue before i made change to page again what is your problem how can you just ignore this and say im not engaing in a dialoge to resolve the issue how blantlly bias can you be this is outrageous--Wikiscribe (talk) 17:16, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

a small accurate contribution does not need to be disscussed on the talk page discussing that would equate to disscusing a gramtical error and asking it was okay to fix the spelling lol i handled it fine i proceded to ther person who had a problem and tried to be democratic about maybe he did not like the wording i used and offed to change it to something we could both agree on--Wikiscribe (talk) 17:31, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I put it on hold (not many things, shouldn't take too long). You can see my comments here. --Kakofonous (talk) 17:20, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

block

You put a 24 hour block on me for violating the three revert rule on the article Standardization of Office Open XML ? But I had only exactly three reverts on that article and no more than that. Whilst others are using Tor to editthe article even Example. So why was I getting blocked ? hAl (talk) 21:51, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I want to know why the 3RR if I had exactly 3 reverts on the Standardization of Office Open XML article. You again refuse to give an explanation. Especially since the specific revert I did were in supported of other users doing the same edit like user:WalterGR who had already given the user:Kilz a 3RR warning for his edits. I don't like administrative action in my logs at times that I follow the rules. hAl (talk) 22:05, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why would you give me and genral edit warning. I made all valid edits and those three reverts. As you state you are not just reffering to the three revert edits but gave me a general edit warning on Standardization of Office Open XML then I wonder which other edits to that particular article were offensive. So I ask for the third time why I was blocked. If you seem unable to answer that question that I would rather ask for you to add an apology to my talk page rather than avoiding the question again. hAl (talk) 22:59, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats

Despite what you've asked me, I'd find it rude not to congratulate you on your successful RfA. --Alisyntalk 00:06, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question about a proposed music merge

A discussion was started on merging something in September 2006. It never got much discussion. Now what? Enigma msg! 00:21, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Really not sure how to do it. The best way would be to have Walking with a Ghost be one page with information from both of those pages on it. Enigma msg! 16:32, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How can I avoid an banning and an edit war?

I was recently blocked by you for an edit war with hal. I do not want another ban and would prefer to stay out of edit wars. But Hal who has a very pro Microsoft stance has just wiped out a large section of criticism on Standardization_of_Office_Open_XML Here is a dif and here is another with no discussion or asking for more references. Will I get blocked or warned for replacing them? Kilz (talk) 00:55, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know you suggested going to WP:ANI about hal. But Im not 100% sure if this last edit falls under warring since he did try and discuss it. He did it without others agreeing with him, but he did try and discuss it. Could you please take a look at the discussion and edit then see if you agree with it? Thanks. Protect

If you want to protect the articles than in that case I want you as an admin to protect legitimate edits like this this to the Office open XML article which are actually supported by the info in the cited sources that user:Oub is continuously reverting (in fact he has been edit warring the Office open XML article for a few months now and does not listen to several wikipedians suggesting him otherwise on the talk pages. hAl (talk) 12:28, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I put the article up for AfD. I figured if I mentioned it on your talk page that yourself and others might take a look at the article and see my reasoning and cast their votes one way or the other. Thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unbelievable. I thank you for your vote but it seems it may be kept anyways. If it is, I guess I will work on rewriting the whole thing. Most of the first section is okay, I guess. But pretty much the whole last 2/3 of the article needs to be just outrigh deleted. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 00:05, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
when I first saw this AfD I thought.. hmmm?.. Navlos is nominating an article that describes the contents of his closet :D. And then I noticed you had voted on it and I thought... hmm? Pat is voting against an article that... oh never mind... :-D HA! All in all I thought it was just sorta funny. As for the article itself... I have no real opinion. To me it seemed like one of those fluff pages that looks make-believe... but looks kinda legit all at the same time. Black metal is the comic relief of heavy metal music. And black metal fashion is the comic relief of... well... just about anything. I can't say much about stereotype heavy metal fashion which is really what that page is describing.. Even I dressed like that at some point in my life.... back in 1979 :D . I won't vote on it. But if I did I would simply vote to rename it "Stereotype heavy metal fashion" and demand a few more refs (it has one ref and it has two external links that could've been used as cites if someone took the time to read them) Or maybe the article could be renamed Navlos' closet :D 156.34.223.41 (talk) 00:09, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
HEY! Your jabs at me aside, maybe we're all changing. As for your jabs, though, I do not dress in the sterotypical metal fashion. I have long hair, yes. But mostly what they are describing in that article is not the way I dress. You are right to assume the heavy metal fashion page is fluff. It is total bs. If is kept it needs a rewrite and some sections will be deleted altogether. I will definitely use your comment, though, if the article is kept. I will probabaly put a sentence in the beginning referring to sterotypes and that that page is all about them. Also, even if I dressed like a sterotypical metalhead (and I'm not against most of it) I would still detest that article for a number of reasons. Read the AfD discussion. I don't believe fashion in subcultures is something that should be discussed in any sort of encylopedic format. It differs from person to person and everyone's perspective of "fashion" and what constitutes it is different. I don't mind it being discussed too much (it makes me cringe a little) but it should never be discussed in an encyclopedia. The subject matter in and of itself is uncyclopedic in nature. Back to work(... work??) From an earlier conversation we had about a troublesome editor... this post would indicate that there is a COI issue and a large WP:OWN problem which overpowers the editor abilities to read and understand edit summaries and the properly quoted policies and guidelines. An IP editor should be better than that. Anyhow... I have to go tease my long hair, put on my spandex pants and eye liner, don my torn t-shirt and leather jacket and go listen to some Crue. Or.... go and have a Greek salad and a glass of wine. 156.34.239.151 (talk) 22:20, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rhapsody

Please stop vandalizing the Rhapsody article and leaving bogus warnings on my talk page. The fact that the Japanese title is "Puppet Princess" and not "Doll Princess" is an undisputed fact. It's even stated several times in the article and is visible on the Japanese game cover, which is also shown on the article. In fact, the official title is even included in the Rhapsody game booklet, at the end of the prologue. Don't attack edits without even doing proper research.24.3.180.166 (talk) 00:52, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Return of the blogs

I see that you are working at a slower pace. But I am hoping you can help again. There is a discussion on Talk:Standardization_of_Office_Open_XML of adding one of the blogs you removed with a different page from the blog, lol sbdd. At least my sense of humor is returning. Its so heated that I went to Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard and posted a question in hopes of getting an answer , only to have the war dragged there. I didnt announce that I was asking the question, but was followed through my contribs. Would it be possible for you to post on the placing of blogs on Talk:Standardization_of_Office_Open_XML? Thanks in advance. Kilz (talk) 13:41, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

USER Warren

Hello

You recall the article about OOXML? We are just trying to discuss in a peaceful manner how to preceed and user User:Warren just removed that section. I find that not acceptable he has not contributed to the discussion. I will revert his edit and propose a warning about his editing polity. Oub (talk) 17:25, 12 March 2008 (UTC):[reply]

I was just curious as to why the user was blocked. I've talked with METALFREAK04 a few times in the past and he never seemed to be the kind of person to do anything wrong on wikipedia. I'm not saying he didn't I was just wondering what the block was for as I noticed it while moseying on over to his talk page. Thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:05, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OOPS. Nvm. Forgot to read my messages. How silly. Yes, I'll do what I can and thanks for letting me know. What pages was he making these derogatory comments on, so I can take a look and know what I'm dealing with? I'll try and calm him down. Cheers. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:07, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I understand, I will leave him a message. I debated on whether or not to tell you my name =), but in the end I figured it won't hurt as it is a rather common name. Daniel. Is you name really Pat(Patrick?)? Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, you actually go by that? Where do you come from, if you don't mind me asking? That's an interesting name. I'm not sure about posting a pic. We'll see. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:26, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's cool. Nah, I'm not a pure blood american, lol. I'm guessing you're referring to a Native American? Maybe, I'll put a pic up, we'll see. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:54, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I do take it as positive criticism. I only told the vand s/he was being reported because I thought we were supposed to do that as a courtesy. I did figure out that you don't report vandals to ANI, but instead to AIV. As for my comments on my talk page...=), I'm not known for being humble. I may be more humble irl (in real life), but on the internet as far as wikipedia and video games go, I'm not. Sorry. I just think it's funny. Pwning n00bs is fun =). I have that blown up and posted on my office door (I work at a University... Warning?

No less than 4 people on the talk page were agreeing on the edit. On the talk Page user:Warren, User:Cloud2user:Soumyasch and me stated that the section was inapporpriate, then Warren made the edit to remove it and user:Oub reverted it for like the tenth time. And then you give me a warning ???????????? That is fucking unbelievable. This time I am making a complaint against you for complety biased behaviour. user:Oub has double the amount of reverts on that particular section and you do not even touch him. Also you have been removing all references to Microsoft blogs from theStandardization of Office Open XML even though they were from experts on this standardization proces have have more peer review than any other sources and which are also some of the most cited sources on Office Open XML subject but left in all kind of unconfirmed and or negative stories by anti OOXML blogs. hAl (talk) 20:55, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Need your opinion/expertise re: a bizarre text formatting

When you have a spare minute go to Canned Heat. If you look at the article it doesn't seem to out of the ordinary poorly written but aren't they all Now click the edit button and slowly scroll down. Check out the bizarre line breaks that are not constant... but consistent throughout most of the article. In days past I have nailed many many articles with oddball formatting like that one as copyvio copy/paste jobs from other websites. Trouble with that one... and maybe I am just getting slow... I can't spot the "potential" external source. It looks like a pasty... but it can't be jarred and shelved until the true source... if there really is one... is Sherlocked out. Can you see what I am talking about when you click the edit button? That is my "strange-O" of the day. Another mystery for the Scooby-Doo gang to solve. Darn those meddlin' kids!156.34.228.106 (talk) 00:37, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean. It looks like it's been reworded from here: [3]. Certainly is strange... and yet, that formatting doesn't seem to break up the page so much. ScarianCall me Pat 11:06, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the peek. It has to be a copy/paste and it's like each sentence has one word changed in order to slip through the eventual Googling.
While I have your attention... even heard of this genre of music???? Maybe it's real. I happen to think it's a fairy tale. What are your thoughts? THere's an awful lot-o-red-links on them thar pages. :D 156.34.228.106 (talk) 19:00, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LMAO!!!! I saw 156 IP man's conservapedia pic...so true, so true. I also couldn't help but notice that Etac keeps sending 156 IP man "friendly, spread the love" templates. I thought 156 IP man hated Etac. or at least disliked him and considered him a troll. At any rate sorry to leave this message here, Pat, but I never know if I should leave a message on 156 IP man's page because he may switch IPs and never see it. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:23, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't hate anyone. 'Hate' is a Four letter word. Tic Tac has a lengthy history of vandalism, trolling and many other 'anti-wiki' habits. Which means everything he does must be scrutinised as a potential negative on the project. That being said he does have many proper/positive edits on Wikipedia. He is the creator of the Wiki Christian metal project which, for lack of anything else, is a very positive contribution for Wikipedia... one which someone/somewhere along the way should have given him a barnstar for. It would've been well deserved for starting, what many in the "pea-brain-population of heavy metal fans", would've considered unnecessary. But he won't get one from me simply because of... well... y'know... all the earlier 'negatives'. That he seeks me out and gives me cookies... that is either his way of trying to turn around his past indiscretions and apologise to one editor who has had to clean up after him a thousand times. OR... he may simply be talk-page-trolling??? who knows? As for my pic post... that is a very funny impression of a stereotype. Pat posted a return comic pic in my directions which was also very funny. Both pictures portray something that many people don't get.... that they are both stereotypes... and they are both wrong. Bill CLinton was a liberal who was governor of a state whose death row has an express lane. Tony Blair was a labour party leader whose extended an iron fist further than Margaret Thatcher could've ever hoped to. Here in Canada we suffered under a corrupt Liberal government that stole billions from the public sector and from our social safety net that, by Liberal stereotype, were the backbone of their polical belief. Pat is a liberal. Something it takes a lot of guts to say in this day and age. And I respect him greatly for his beliefs. I, on the other hand, could be called a Conservative by some I call myself one But, that being said, I am a Conservative who strongly believes in unions and the power of collective bargaining and that our Canadian health care system should always be public and never be privatised... 2 things that Conservatives aren't known for.... if you go by stereotypes. But I am far from being a stereotype. Another 'non-conservative' belief for me... I believe we should legalise pot. NOt because I want easier access to it (I haven't imbibed for decades)... but my internal 'liberal' businessman wants to tax the sh*t out of it and then dump all that cash back into health care and education. My external 'Conservative' businessman wants to add military resources to the health care and education pot tax benefit. Always avoid the stereotypes. They're evil. And if anyone has any good political comics either lefty or righty... let's see 'em. We all need a good laugh. besides the one we get thinking about Navlos' "metal" wardrobe :D WHOOPS... there's a stereotype... no need for those. :D 156.34.228.106 (talk) 22:14, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hear hear! ScarianCall me Pat 22:36, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh very funny! Let's keep my wardrobe out of it =). I also consider myself a conservative but I have many liberal views as well. I'm very much into politics, just so you know. It's always good to be able to laugh at ourselves now and then. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:12, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed that the AfD template is still up on the page and wasn't sure if I should remove it or not as I thought the conversation there was over. I figured I would bring it to your attention and leave it up to you to get rid of the template or whatever it is one is supposed to do there, lol. Thanks. hey!

He asked me out on a date. Which had nothing to do with the 3rr report [5] to which I declined and stated that he had every right to his preference [6] and then further explained it to you [7] . WEre you able to look at the blatent violation of the 3rr report? thanks you.

ps I have no bias against anyone except for the irrational Uconnstud (talk) 21:34, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't go against another admins decision without discussing it first (per WP:WHEEL) and I'm not about to. I believe it was the right decision. Secondly, he didn't ask you out on a date. He was being quite friendly (if not sarcastic - which I will pick up on on his talk page). You didn't need to make a comment about homosexuals in that fashion. That's the bottom line. AN/I

I kept an eye on the message you posted, but no one replied. I looked into it a little bit myself, but it's a little hard to sort out, and I don't want to warn just the most obvious case, because I would likely get accused of bias in that case. "Why are you warning me! The other guy was just as bad!" etc. Heh. Anyway, I'm going to be away for a day or so. Good talking to ya! Enigma msg! 22:22, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More "Canned Heat-ish" copyvio?

Pandemonium (band) is a very long article about a very non-notable subject. The style of prose indicates that it was written somewhere else and pasted here. BUT... I can't find the source. Ideas. One great idea I have is to speedy the thing... but I successfully speedied several articles over the past few days... and I feel a slump coming on if I try and keep up my current quality pace. :D 156.34.219.217 (talk) 12:49, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PS.. I think that this and all the acts tied to it are here for advertising only. A mass AfD? or just me being too picky about Wikipedia being overchubbled with advertising and I should just go and get a coffee and some Shredded Wheat? :D 156.34.219.217 (talk) 12:53, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RedSpruce

I am sorry if looks like I am just reversing RedSpruce without thought. Just look how much information was deleted by RedSpruce in his last reversion of my edits back to his last version here at Annie Lee Moss. He reverted over a dozen individual edits, including information on her birth, her parents, her husband, and her death date. He even reverted back to his typographical error in the name of the author. Again here at Mary Stalcup Markward, he has deleted every edit I have made to the article. Its not a matter of editorial opinion, its wholesale deletion of whatever I add. There are two open ANIs on him over it. His radical changes are still locked into the two above articles.

His strategy is to delete all my additions, then ask for the page to be protected to lock in his changes. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 15:44, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He also left this on my page, after deleting my additions to the article: "You are a complete idiot and moron. Please take your stupidity to some other article. Thank you. RedSpruce (talk) 15:59, 11 March 2008 (UTC)"[reply]

Hey, Pat, I just wanted to ask if you could put that article up for deletion when you can per WP:OR and no references. The article is totally ridiculous as well and untrue in many ways. It might fit the criteria for a speedy deletion. It's much appreciated, thanks. I probabaly won't be around for the next week, so good luck with the article and what not. I hope the articles i usually watch don't get messed up, but I guess I can't really do anything. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:43, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I didn't know if you were on or not. You sure you have no opinion on it at all? The article is ridiculous. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:50, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am back

Hey, long time no see! I was a bit busy in my personal life, specifically in study. But, now I'm getting back to Wikipedia. I think our attempt to organize debate related articles under WP:WikiProject_Debating becomes very slow. So, I just wanna speed up this process. It won't be a problem if we two again start working together. Just let me know. Cheers! -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 10:43, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure; given his reaction to a 31 hour for repeated vandalism to Scientology, I doubt that he'll take any block in the spirit in which it is intended. I wonder if the account is compromised since he suddenly seems to have switched from constructive editing to vandalism. It's clearly a schoolkid. However, I can keep an eye on him if you want to drop the block down. Maybe the knowledge that we can block him indefinitely will concentrate his mind? --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 14:35, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Venom

How is using the logo for venom a fair use violation? Undeath (talk) 19:59, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you want a work-a-round? Place it below the infobox with a specific reference to it in the article's prose with appropriate sourcing. ScarianCall me Pat 20:05, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really know how to do that. Could you do it on this article so I could use it as a reference later on? Undeath (talk) 20:22, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When you have a chance..

This can be rv'd in my standard cleanup re: lead-in wording. 156.34.217.80 (talk) 21:43, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Big issue

Now I seem to have a problem with the way things were handled with the venom article. Many, many band articles have the logo in the userbox. Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 and MATH (band) are just a few examples. I think, that in some cases, the logo should be in the infobox because hardly no other pictures exist. One that surprised me as having no picture is Disturbed (band). Undeath (talk) 23:05, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the link to help you explain Pat. Template:Infobox musical artist#Name. It is a text only field. As per discussion on the template talk page, no logos are permitted in the name field. And in the same page the rule for the img field is that it is "An image of the act"... and nothing else = no logos. Logos can be added in the main body of the article, provided they have cited text to explain the notability/history of the logo. No accompanying tex w. citation = crufty/unencyclopedic decoration and an unwanted addition to a project that's already struggling to be an encyclopedia. It isn't a fansite. And fanboy decorations aren't required or desired here. If any articles are found with logos added to their infobox... the argument is not to try and use that as support for adding more cruft... the proper thing to do is to remove the offending logo as per the template guidelines and talk page consensus. As has been done with over 50 lingering logos today. And likely just as many tomorrow. Hope that helps. Have a nice day! 156.34.217.80 (talk) 23:35, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It never states no logos. That was an assumption. Undeath (talk) 03:20, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The first IP is blocked already... 1 month. The second IP is one that Alf and I and KOS have spoken about previously. It's almost like it's the "toytown vandal"... only with a Kiss fetish. CambridgeBayWeatherman is more than familiar with the TTV editor. A long time uber disruptor. This new version has been nicknamed... by me on Alf's talkpage... as "the Falsifier". Same modus operandi... but with a Kiss twist.(sounds like an ice cream sundae) :D 156.34.142.110 (talk) 17:37, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vote Wanted

Go here and voice your opinion. Thanks. Undeath (talk) 17:21, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Question is... if this editor is going to ignore the first vote and WP:CANVASS for editors to vote again... why isn't he canvassing all the editors/admins (like John, Alf, Papa November, Zytsef, IllaZilla... me :D... etc) to come back and vote again? 156.34.142.110 (talk) 17:43, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Voting

I was not vote stacking. If I was, I would have invited people all from a wikigroup. But, if you look at the people I notified, I notified people in the previous discussion as well as admins that have never seen it before. I was gathering new people for a new look on how things should be set up. And, if Wikipedia does not decide things by voting, how does it decide things? Where should I take this issue/proposition?
