How silly of me, of course I'd love to get you to review it. But I plan to add a bit more info, would you be willing to look at it (again) after I do? Thanks a ton Axl, I've really appreciated your help and support with the article. Wallowing in my RfA: This time it's personal...
My sincere thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 51 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Doubtless it was an error to put one of the government-bred race of pigmen in any position of authority, but I hope your confidence in me proves justified. Even a man pure of heart and who says his prayers at night can become a were-boar when the moon is full and sweet. Fortunately, I'm neither a were-pig nor pure of heart so this doesn't appear to be an imminent danger to Wikipedia for the moment. Fortunate as well because were-pig hooves are hell on keyboards and none too dexterous with computer mice. If ever I should offend, act uncivil, misstep, overstep, annoy, violate policy, or attempt to topple the fascist leadership of Wikipedia, please let me know so I can improve my behaviour and/or my aim. I am not an animal; I am an admin. And, of course, if there is any way in which I can help you on Wikipedia, please do not hesitate to ask me. Despite my japes, I am indeed dedicated to protecting and serving Wikipedia to the best of my foppish and impudent abilities. I will strive to be an admirable admin, shiny and cool, reasonable and beatific. Pigmanwhat?/trail 05:34, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Post Scriptum: I believe my collaged graphic at left, which incorporates the WP globe and mop image, falls under the rubric of parody for my purposes here. Or is it satire? Regardless, it's a legitimate and legally protected First Amendment usage under US law. Complaints and allegations that this is an improper "fair use" image will be entertained on my talk page, probably with fruit juice, finger food and exotic coffees.

Thanks!

Belatedly, for the Barnstar! I started my residency in June and hadn't logged in to wikipedia for months, thus the tardy reply. Perhaps I'll take it as inspiration to resume contributing now and then. -RustavoTalk/Contribs 01:20, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

dear Axl,

i can't break it any further. if will break it it won't look nice. the sentence is long because the name of the schemes introduced by the government are lengthy. hope so you won't mind. thanks a lot for your worthy efforts! :-) Sushant gupta (talk) 07:57, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments on my RFA. Even though it failed with 28 supports, 42 opposes, and 15 neutrals, I am grateful for the suggestions and advice I have received and I do hope to improve as a Wikipedian. The Transhumanist (Rfa)

I think The Transhumanist would make a great admin but I don't think I have the experience necessary to make up a nomination. If you want to take the lead, I'd be happy to follow though. --RegentsPark (talk) 15:37, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re-assess action potential?

Hey Axl,

I know that you voted to remove action potential only three weeks ago, but the article has been improved considerably since then — well, at least I think so. ;) You can set me straight by reading the article through and telling me what still needs to be improved. I really do think it's worthy to be a Featured Article, and if you agree, I'd appreciate it if you changed your vote to Keep. Thanks! :) Willow (talk) 19:40, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfA thanks!

RfA: Many thanks
Many thanks for your participation in my recent request for adminship. I am impressed by the amount of thought that goes into people's contribution to the RfA process, and humbled that so many have chosen to trust me with this new responsibility. I step into this new role cautiously, but will do my very best to live up to your kind words and expectations, and to further the project of the encyclopedia. Again, thank you. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 06:15, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

Thanks for the barnstar. Hope you get that IP discrepancy resolved soon. Where are your requests for unblocking? I couldn't find any in your contribs.   — C M B J   23:30, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here and above here. Axl (talk) 16:47, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a little confused since I've never encountered a block. It was my understanding that IP blocks did not prevent registered users from contributing. Could you provide details?   — C M B J   02:00, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Despite being logged in, I couldn't edit because the whole IP address range was blanket blocked. The reason given was "Massive sockpuppetry and abuse". Now, the problem seems to have disappeared, although I don't know why. Axl (talk) 09:47, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've implemented the changes you suggested. I noticed however that I was an hour or so too late and you've already failed the article. I've been hard pressed to find time to edit recently and as the main contributor to the article, it wasn't likely to progress without my input. Since the changes you asked for were in fact very minor, I was wondering if we could skip the queue especially since it had to wait about a month for a review in the first place? (Only if you believe that article passes GA criteria of course) Thanks for your time. Nev1 (talk) 16:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have delisted this article due to issues with criterion #3 of WP:WIAGA. My comments are at Talk:City of Salford#GA delisted; but in short, the history and geography sections are far too short and not comprehensive enough for a city of 200,000+, and the article lacks a 'media' section. Other than this missing info, I think it's reasonably good, and if the city was a very small town, it would probably be acceptable; but as it stands, it does not meet the criteria. The article has been referred back to WP:GAN, on hold status, so it wasn't failed outright. Dr. Cash (talk) 18:54, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, have you got the IP range? That would help a lot, it should say it in the block message - feel free to email me with it if you want. Ryan Postlethwaite 18:12, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've given you an IP block exemption - can you edit now? Ryan Postlethwaite 18:15, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Ryan. Whatever you did, it worked. :-) Axl (talk) 19:31, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good news! :) Ryan granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

We hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. -- lucasbfr talk 06:10, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship nomination

Would you be interested in a nomination for adminship? Although I don't know you personally, judging from your contributions I think you'd make a great admin. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 09:35, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well you certainly have several contributions in WP:AIV, but if you're not particularly interested in vandal fighting/XfD/... then there would indeed be little use in it. And after all you could probably do more improving medical articles than doing those other tasks. Let me know if you have a change of heart :-) --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 19:20, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Very much appreciated, thank you. --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 20:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

[1] Thanks! Darkspots (talk) 11:00, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot for the "E=mc2" barnstar. I have kept my status as medical student with full awareness as most of the medical students (especially from urban regions) in India require to do some postgraduation course before they can practically begin their careers. I've completed the MBBS course, also got the permanent registration (License) to practice, but as of now am mostly studying for the entrance exams as the competition is fierce—a selection ratio of approximately 1:50 (all those who appear for the exams are qualified MBBS doctors!). Moreover, nowadays, people require to do some kind of superspecialization too before they are absorbed into some corporate hospital or can start their own private practice.

So, keeping all these things in mind, I refrain from identifying myself as doctor or physician. Fortunately, I'd got very good clinical exposure during my internship (lasts for one year), so wouldn't really feel guilty if I've to identify myself as doctor.

Hope you won't find my reply excessively long or personal.

Regards.

Ascending cholangitis

Thanks for your comments. I have addressed as many as I could. Two main questions:

  1. When describing SIRS I focused on the clinical symptoms. Do you insist on using the official criteria?
  2. Could you explain the need for using last and first in citation templates?

Cheers. JFW | T@lk 22:33, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For your input in ascending cholangitis. Would you have a minute to look at the FAC for subarachnoid hemorrhage? JFW | T@lk 20:59, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And no, I have never worked in Southampton but Paul Grundy is on DNUK. I was quite pleased that he was willing to offer an external peer review - IMHO this is crucial for any medical article being considered for FA. JFW | T@lk 23:35, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Study

Hi,
I need your help. I am working on a research project at Boston College, studying creation of medical information on Wikipedia. You are being contacted, because you have been identified as an important contributor to one or more articles.

Would you will be willing to answer a few questions about your experience? We've done considerable background research, but we would also like to gather the insight of the actual editors. Details about the project can be found at the user page of the project leader, geraldckane. Survey questions can be found at geraldckane/medsurvey. Your privacy and confidentiality will be strictly protected!

The questions should only take a few minutes. I hope you will be willing to complete the survey, as we do value your insight. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Professor Kane if you have any questions.

Thank You, Sam4bc (talk) 19:03, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
