Proposal

Consider melding the Battle Summaries and Noteworthy Battles sections, as to provide more information on what happened in each battle. I will be willing to provide as much info as possible.

I have already applied this to the Steg Robots Page.

Dubbed version

Did the author really mean to say that they show a dubbed version in Ireland? This sounds like bad vaudeville/music hall humor of 120 years ago. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Italo Svevo (talkcontribs)

Yes, they do, actually. Only the commentary is dubbed. The rest is still in English. Robert Mc Cann —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.43.172.123 (talkcontribs)

Winners

I've brought in details from List of champions and other comeptition/trophy winners in Robot Wars (sic). The article was not correctly titled and doesn't need to be a separate article. I have not deleted it because the edit history is required. violet/riga (t) 21:17, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I thought it might have made the main article too long. And of course I made a typo in the title of the list. Robert Mc Cann. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.43.172.123 (talkcontribs)
I believe the long lists of winners and seeds do make the main article too long. I've moved them off to Robot Wars Winners and Seeds and have inserted a link in the 'see also' section. I think a similar approach might be valuable for the 'robot types' section. 167.131.0.152 18:57, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Individual Robot Pages

There are so many individual robot pages here that are unwikified. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.249.243.169 (talkcontribs)

There has certainly been a lot of innovation carried out by competitors in Robot Wars and the current competitions, but we are still a relatively small group - I'd guess at maybe 200 active combat robot builders in the UK - so I'd be wary of submitting each other's robots in case it counts as self promotion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.77.96.152 (talkcontribs)

Would someone please purge some of the redundant internal links in this page? Lenin & McCarthy 17:27, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dropped?

They didnt drop it, they ran out of cash, and could not be made any more, Channel 4 sometimes show reruns of the competition. --Joshuarooney2006 11:18, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone who knows please write why the show was cancelled? I miss the show I would like to know why it stopped. EchetusXe (talk) 14:07, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The show was removed from broadcast for the same reason most shows are removed: ratings fell off and the network replaced it with a show they hoped would generate greater audience appeal. Run Amok (talk) 05:09, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

...some by popularity"

Are the robots that are claimed to be seeded by popularity completely correct? All three robots listed under there have all reached heat finals at least in the past. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.32.48.236 (talkcontribs)

Anyone up for a rewrite?

I'd love to see this article rewritten to a higher standard and, given the wealth of information available about the show, possibly raised to FA status. Are there any other editors interested in this subject who'd be up for helping me to make this article as good as it can be? -- CountdownCrispy ( ? 20:22, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm game. (Statistic)
Great - if we can get a couple more people on board I reckon we can fly. -- CountdownCrispy ( ? 18:28, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've started a new, blank article for the Robot Wars rewrite at Talk:Robot Wars/Rewrite. It's currently got a very nearly complete infobox and nothing else. I'll be adding to this over the coming days; please do so as well if you can. -- CountdownCrispy ( ? 15:41, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How do we keep the re-write from filling up with minutia like the current article? An encyclopedic summary really does not benefit from things like lists of event seeds and winners. These details are available elsewhere on the Web and can be included by reference, no? 167.131.0.152 18:56, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since this re-write effort has bogged down, I've taken sections from the re-write and patched them into the existing page. Run Amok 23:15, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures?

If ever an article needs some pictures, I'd say it was this one. Doesn't anyone have some pictures that could be used here? —Doug Bell talkcontrib 04:00, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have a bunch of pictures, but I dnon't know what copyright. FrogTape 03:05, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Units

Heavyweight: Up to 100 kg or 100 lb? Both are used in the article. Can't both be right.

132.229.116.79 13:51, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they can. The earliest Robot Wars event in the US had a 100 pound max weight. This crept up thru a number of iterations to the 100 KG limit in the late UK Robot Wars

Do note that the weight for walking robots was DOUBLE the maximum weight.

Run Amok 16:31, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Er, can you clarify that in the article then? 129.16.97.227 18:58, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikification

OK. There have now been six AfDs on RW-related subjects, so I've wikified. We've now got two articles, List of significant Robot wars contestants (UK) and done a massive Merge and Redirect to List of minor Robot Wars contestants (UK) and I've cleaned the horrible results page up and renamed to Results of Robot Wars tournaments. These links have gone into the re-write, so it's time that was launched, so I have. Obviously anything anyone's added recently will have been lost, so add it in to the new article. I think I've done all the redirects. Any comments, hit my talk page. EliminatorJR Talk 00:17, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thing is, we still have various articles that fail notability relating to RW, such as George Francis (Robot Wars).--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 07:34, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Look

Am loving the look of this page now. The format and wording of the page is excellent now! GladFanJ 21:32, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Music and Important Lines

I think something about the music used should be mentioned and something about the lines that Charles used to say such as Let The Wars Begin, 3 2 1 Activate and Cease as well as something about the judging process to decide draws. 211.30.60.34 (talk) 11:41, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Robot Wars Wiki

All of you Robot Wars fans out there might like to know that I have recently started a new Robot Wars Wiki on Wikia.com which can be found here. The Wiki is in its very early stages at the moment and it would be great if you guys could help to make it a success. The reason I have started it is because there is a limit to the amount of articles that can be made about Robot Wars on Wikipedia and many of you will know that most of the articles about individual robots have been removed from the site due to notability issues. I am therefore inviting all fans of the show to use the Robot Wars Wiki as a new home for all Robot Wars articles that can or cannot make it onto Wikipedia and together we can make the biggest database of Robot Wars content on the worldwide web. Incorrect finalists

someone is changing series 4 finalists. It should be chaos 2 winner, then pussycat runner up, tornado 3rd and dominator 2 4th, hypnodisc and stinger never even made the quaterfinals, check live videos if you dont believe me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.7.22.33 (talk) 18:45, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The finalists of Series 4 (AKA - The Fourth War) were Chaos 2 (winner), Pussycat (runner up), Stinger (3rd) and Hypno-Disc (4th). Hypno could'nt actually have a 3rd/4th play-off with Stinger due to the disc being destroyed by Shunt. I should know, I watched the episode two weeks ago! Now, I believe you know all this and are trying to hide vandalism by making this look like a content dispute. Now, you are on a final warning on your account and a only warning on your IP. So please stop this now! John Sloan (talk) 20:12, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I can back up John Sloan's statement on the finalists in Series 4. Tornado was defeated by Chaos 2 in the quarter finals, and Dominator was defeated by Pussycat in that same round. Hypno-Disk defeated Wild Thing to move into the semi finals, and Stinger defeated Panic Attack. Run Amok (talk) 15:33, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
