Giulia Sani-Casagli

Giulia Sani Casagli (September 15, 1893September 4, 2006) was Italy's oldest person from 28 December 2005 (death of 114-year-old Virginia Dighero-Zolezzi) until her death at almost age 113. She lived in Florence. Giulia also ranked as ninth-oldest in the world at the time of her death (which was not announced until 15 September 2006, when she would have turned 113) and is listed in the Guinness World Records 2007 edition as one of the top 15 oldest living people in the world.

Maria Teresa Fumarola Ligorio

Maria Teresa Fumarola Ligorio (December 2, 1889May 14, 2003)[citation needed] was an Italian supercentenarian and their first resident to reach the verified age of 113.[citation needed] Ligorio remained the oldest Italian ever until June 6, 2005, when she was superseded by Virginia Dighero-Zolezzi, who died at age 114. She was born in San Marzano di San Giuseppe, Taranto, Puglia.[citation needed]

Maria married Donato Ligorio, and had ten children.[citation needed]

She died in Fragagnano, a small town near Taranto.[citation needed] At the time of her death, Ligorio was the oldest living European resident and one of the 100 oldest verified people on record, where she remained until August 24, 2007, when she was passed by American Arbella Ewing.[citation needed]
