Roblox is a free virtual MMOG playground and workshop designed for kids 4-14. ^[1]. The game is made up of building bricks of various shapes and sizes. Unlike other games, Roblox has no pre-defined goals, and players are allowed to build anything such as houses, churches, cities, swimming pools, and more. Roblox users can program with an easier to use version of Lua 5.1^[2]. Roblox has become part of the privacy program TrustE.^[3]

History and development

Roblox is a game first published in 2005 by Roblox Corp. of Silicon Valley, California. Roblox's project straddles several rapidly-developing aspects of internet entertainment: virtual worlds, casual gaming, and user-constructed content. ^[4]

Customization

Places

Players in Roblox have the ability to construct up to ten worlds out of an unlimited supply of virtual building blocks^[5]. These blocks can be customized to each players liking. Players can earn in-game currency, called tickets from other users visiting their online world. Every user starts out with a real estate home as their own where they can insert anything like bricks, IntValues, and Scripts.^{[citation needed]}

Avatars

Players in Roblox are given an avatar that they can customize with new hats, heads, clothes and faces. All of which are available to purchase with Roblox's virtual currency. All creations in Roblox are listed in the Catalog.^{[citation needed]}

Badges

Roblox provides users with achievent awards called badges. Roblox has three combat badges that are awarded to users with high amounts of Knockouts. They also have a Friendship badge which is awarded to users with over 20 friends and Builders Club members also get badges when subscribed for the premium membership. There are a total of 14 badges available to users.^{[citation needed]}

Economy

Ways To Earn

Roblox has developed their own virtual economy. Players in Roblox can earn two currencies, Tickets or Robux. Users are awarded these by getting people to visit their virtual places, selling their user made clothes, or by trading their money on Roblox's version of the stock market. Players are also given a login bonus of 10 Tickets or 15 Robux, depending on if they are are paying for Roblox's premium membership service known as Builder's Club.^[6]

Builder's Club

Although Roblox is a free software, it offers a premium membership called Builder's Club. Builder's Club gives each user ten places instead of one, the ability to sell their creations, no outside advertisements, and a daily allowance of 15 Robux; Roblox's primary currency.^[7]

Turbo Builders Club

This new kind of Builders Club makes you able to construct up to 25 places,earn 35 Robux a day and you will get a special hat.
