Christopher "Chris" Joseph Pirillo (born (1973-07-26)July 26, 1973) is the American founder and maintainer of Lockergnome, a blogging network. He spent two years hosting the TechTV television program Call for Help. Pirillo also hosted the first annual Call-for-Help-a-Thon on TechTV. He now hosts videos on several internet sites, including CNN, YouTube, ustream.tv, and his own website.[1]

Biography

Pirillo majored in English education at the University of Northern Iowa. Chris currently lives near Seattle, Washington with his two dogs Wicket and Pixie, who are the namesakes of the bots on the http://live.pirillo.com IRC chat room.

On 26th July 2009 (Pirillo's Birthday), #chrispirillo trended 2nd on the micro-blogging site Twitter. His fans tweeted with the hash tag #chrisprillo since it was Pirillo's birthday wish as requested on http://live.pirillo.com.

Projects

Chris Pirillo live streams from his home office on Ustream and is one of the more popular streams, with over 4,000 devotees.[2] His live stream is the basis for YouTube videos recorded daily with a focus on software, computers, iPhone applications, operating systems, gaming and other technology-related topics and events. As of July 1, 2009, Pirillo has had over 15,500,000 viewer hours[3] and 70,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel.[4]

Chris Pirillo runs several online communities. His Lockergnome blogging network has over 100,000 members. Geeks, his Ning-based social network, has over 17,000 users.[5]. His web forum, Lockergnome Help Forum, is a popular destination for answers to questions from both novice and advanced users.[6]

Chris Pirillo is also an avid blogger, with over 2,000 posts and 40,000 readers of his personal blog.[7] Pirillo makes extensive use of micro-blogging services such as Twitter, where he has over 65,000 followers[8] and FriendFeed, where he has over 11,000 friends[9] on a daily basis.

Every year, Pirillo hosts Gnomedex, a technology conference tailored to technology and blogging enthusiasts.
