JamesBWatson blocked the other account for a month. Anyway, I would ignore the attacks of vandals, as they show up to disrupt userpages every now and then, and report them to WP:AIV if it gets bad.
Also, I am not a sysop, so I cannot protect your userpage or block vandals. Reaper Eternal (talk) 12:36, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Work It Out (Beyoncé Knowles song)

Hi Reaper. Can you please copy-edit "Work It Out (Beyoncé Knowles song)". Please do it or else it will fail GA. The GA review may give you an idea of what needs to be done. Please. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:36, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:32, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:41, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So can i ask the reviewer (Jezhotwells) to do it? He failed the GA just because of that. Jivesh Talk2Me 13:48, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No you can't make the GA reviewer copyedit the article. I regularly do, but that is just a courtesy for the nominator.
BTW, maybe I should have rewritten the prose after the content was all changed. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:38, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Will you be able to do it now? I mean it does not matter if the article has already failed. It can be re-nominated. Jivesh Talk2Me 18:41, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Translation

A cheat I use at times is to Google for a short bit, then look at where the blogs/Facebooks are from... A not bad translator is http://www.freetranslation.com/ (but even that won't do Marathi). Get it to translate, then use the Google translate link on it for a check. Peridon (talk) 18:29, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! I'm sorry, but I had to oppose your RFA based on your relatively recent drama-ish nature. I think that maybe 4-6 months of staying mostly away from ANI would help you. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:40, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tofutwitch

Tofu's sock block was very short, and based entirely on circumstantial evidence and IMO he was blocked just in case he were a sock. His explanations were reasonable, and I personally believe that he would be the last person to do something so silly. RfA is not the place to discuss other editors, and that's one of the reasons we are currently working seriously now towards a reform of the process. --Kudpung (talk) 03:16, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Look at this. It appears that Charlie Munger did coin the term "Lollapalooza Effect", and I will go source it now. In any event, adding "Who wrote this stupid drivel?" to an article constitutes vandalism. Reaper Eternal (talk) 12:53, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your vandalism revert didn't catch it all

Thanks for your effort in making this revert of vandalism. Unfortunately, you only caught the last three vandalist edits and missed the one before those three, probably because it was done by a different editor. Please take a look at the edit history when reverting vandalism. Many times, multiple edits by different anon IP editors indicate vandalism by multiple editors. In such cases, simple "Undo" of the most recent vandal doesn't get rid of all the vandalism. Thanks for your vigilance and keep up the good work. --Pseudo-Richard (talk) 18:48, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! Yes, that is because I use antivandalism tools (in this case STiki), and they only show the most recent diff, not the edits beforehand or the edit history. Multiple IP edits are normally not an indication of multiple vandalism, except in /b/ raids or when the IPs are from the same subnet—an IP-hopping vandal. I know about undo, but I only use rollback since it is much quicker and easier. Reaper Eternal (talk) 01:07, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

D'arcy Wretzky

Hi, as a sporadic contributator I'm not so familiar with Wikipedia's policies and such, but I've seen you're willing to offer editor assistance, so I've chosen to contact you. Would you be able to keep an eye on the article about D'arcy Wretzky? There seems to be some very subtle vandalism by an IP editor. Maybe the page could be protected for a while or something like that.

Here are the edits I'm talking about.

Obviously John Shanahan has nothing to do with Joe Shanahan. Likewise it's well-known that D'arcy mostly played a Jazz Bass.

Best regards! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.49.244.252 (talk) 07:14, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll keep an eye on the page. However, the content in question appears to be poorly sourced. Reaper Eternal (talk) 23:16, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I think you mean the question about the bass type is poorly sourced. In this case I have to agree reluctantly. Nevertheless the Jazz Bass seems to be mentioned in the article for some time and it's also the type of instrument that can be seen in countless pictures and videos around the net. The info on Joe Shanahan can be sourced in this release though: http://www.discogs.com/Smashing-Pumpkins-Fully-Illustrated-Book-Interview-Disc-The-Unauthorised-Edition/release/1910746 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.181.211.153 (talk) 05:32, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE drive newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 backlog elimination drive report

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating in the March 2011 drive! This newsletter summarizes the March drive and other recent events.

Participation
GOCE March 2011 backlog elimination drive progress graphs

There were 99 signups for the drive; of these, 70 participated. Interest was high mainly due to a link to our event from the Watchlist page. We had a record-breaking 84 articles listed on the Requests page in March; 11 of these have been promoted to Good article status so far. Several of our recent efforts have received Featured Article status as well, and the GOCE is becoming a solid resource for the Wikipedia community. Many thanks to editors who have been helping out at the Requests page and by copy editing articles from the backlog.

Progress report

Remarkable progress was made in reducing the backlog this month, as we now have fewer than 500 articles remaining from 2009. We are well under the 4,000-article mark for the total number remaining in the queue. Since our backlog drives began in May 2010 with 8,323 articles, we have cleared more than 53% of the backlog. A complete list of results and barnstars awarded can be found here. Barnstars will be distributed over the next week. If you enjoyed participating in our event, you may also like to join the Wikification drives, which are held on alternate months to our drives. Their April drive has started.

New coodinators

On March 21, SMasters appointed Chaosdruid (talk) and Torchiest (talk) as Guild coordinators to serve in place of The Utahraptor, who recently stepped down. Please feel free to contact any coordinator if you have any questions or need assistance.

Your drive coordinators – S Masters (talk), Diannaa (Talk) and Tea with toast (Talk)

Requesting a copy-edit

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with a copy-edit on the article Halo (Beyoncé Knowles song). It is currently at FAC, and well some people oppose in articles as soon as possible, and was recently opposed because it needs a copy-edit. Time ago, you helped Jivesh with one at Ego (Beyoncé Knowles song), so I thought you may help me here too. I am not hurry with this, Halo's 3rd FAC will always be there, won't it? So if you are busy, would you recommend me another GOCE? Thank you so much. Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 02:43, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get on it in the morning, as I was just heading to bed! Reaper Eternal (talk) 02:47, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much, and sorry. Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 02:50, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I really cannot manage to get this done within a reasonable time. Classes, homework, and things of that nature are preventing me from getting a good solid couple hours to really go through it to prepare it for FAC. Maybe another GoCE editor would be available. Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:27, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, any quick recommendation (a personal recommendation to avoid to list it a GOCE). Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 03:47, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've gotten the initial run done. I'll be back in a couple hours to re-review my edits and clean up any more. Reaper Eternal (talk) 16:45, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Steven_L._Newman

Hi, I've just reverted Steven_L._Newman due to some weird edits since your own last reversion. However, I have also commented out a section that I feel is grossly POV/unencyclopedic in its wording. I don't know anything about this guy or his company & so am a little reluctant to try to fix the issue, although there is a cite there. Suspect that you may have been just hosing down the flames yourself but if not then might you check it out please? - Sitush (talk) 06:00, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your participation in the March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive

On behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, we would like to take the time and thank you for your contributions made as part of the March 2011 Good articles backlog elimination drive. Awards and barnstars will go out shortly for those who have reviewed a certain number of articles.

During the backlog drive, in the month of March 2011,

  • 522 GA nominations were undertaken.
  • 423 GA nominations passed.
  • 72 GA nominations failed.
  • 27 GA nominations were on hold.

We started the GA backlog elimination drive with 378 GA nominations remaining, with 291 that were not reviewed at all. By 2:00, April 1, 2011, the backlog was at 171 GA nominations, with 100 that were left unreviewed.

At the start of the drive, the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 101 days (Andrei Kirilenko (politician), at 20 November 2010, reviewed and passed 1 March 2011); at the end of the drive the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 39 days (Gery Chico, at 24 February 2011, still yet to be reviewed as of this posting).

While we did not achieve the objective of getting the backlog of outstanding GA nominations down to below 50, we reduced the GA backlog by over half. The GA reviews also seemed to be of a higher quality and have consistently led, to say the least, to marginal improvements to those articles (although there were significant improvements to many, even on the some of the nominations that were failed).

If you would like to comment on the drive itself and maybe even make suggestions on how to improve the next one, please make a comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles/GAN backlog elimination drives/March 2011#Feedback. Another GA backlog elimination drive is being planned for later this year, tentatively for September or October 2011. Also, if you have any comments or remarks on how to improve the Good article process in general, Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles can always use some feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles.

Again, on behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, thank you for making the March 2011 GA backlog elimination drive a success.
