Spin Tangi massacre

The ' Hathikhel massacre ' refers to the massacre of 80 people by British Raj soldiers in the Bannu area. A large gathering was organised by local tribal leaders and sympathisers of the Khudai Khidmatgar movement in Spin Tangi, despite restrictions by the British government.

A local elder Qazi Fazal Qadar was fired upon by the arresting police, in the ensuing violence over 80 protestors who were killed and 300 were arrested. Captured in the violence, a wounded Qazi Fazal Qadar, was dragged to the District Commissioner but died shortly afterwards. He was sentenced posthmously to 14 years by the government and denied any religious rites buried in Bannu prison.
