Before the 17th century, in each year there are only one or two countries established or disestablished.   • Comment, I suggest moving Category:States and territories by year of establishment to Category:States and territories by time of establishment. Categorizing the countries by year of establishment is a good idea for countries in modern times, but not for those in earlier times. Before the 5th century, only one or two countries are established every ten years, so the best way is to sort them by century; during the 6th to 17th century, about one or two countries are established every year, so the best way is to sort them by decade; and after the 18th century, there are already quite a lot of countries established in one year, so the best way is to sort them by year. This ensures that there are ten to twenty articles in each category, not too many and not too few. --Ideal gas equation (talk) 09:04, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
