Prodigal is used incorrectly here, it means wasteful, spending, or exuberant. I think the author was thinking of prodigy.

==== Exuberant is used incorrectly above. I think extravagant was intended. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=htsf&oq=&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4LENN_en___US471&q=Prodigal lavish - profuse - extravagant - wasteful - spendthrift. 24.0.113.90 (talk) 10:17, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Needs a picture. I leave this message on many pages so I would appreciate if someone would teach me 1) how to upload a picture and 2) how to put a picture on a page. Thanks. Redwolf24 (Talk)03:48, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

No mention of "Livin' in the USA"? I'd think that song would be notable for its content; anyone care to write a few words about it in the article? --ILike2BeAnonymous 08:11, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone else think there should be an article about the Steve Miller Band? Right now, it's a redirect to this article, but there's almost no mention of the band itself. Not even a mention of its musicians, besides Scaggs. -Freekee 02:30, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree, it would be much better for Steve Miller Band to be the main article, and Steve Miller to be a completely separate article / biography about the musician and band leader. Also (on a similar note) the first paragraph in the bio page is not particularly well written, for example it references Boz Skaggs twice, but in two completely different unrelated contexts. It's like the 2nd reference was thrown in to the middle of the paragraph without the author having even noticed the 1st reference. -Bsharkey 20:02, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also felt the need for a page on the Steve Miller Band...I need some more info, so really I want it for selfish reasons, but it would improve the wiki.Elsprucemoose 04:40, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Place of Birth?!?

The article says born in Milwaukee yet the infobox says born in Waukesha. I know the two cities are close but it would be good if the article was consistent with itself... Anyone know where he was truly born? Nthitz 03:51, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0589369 gives his birth as Milwaukee, Wisconsin and not Waukesha. Les Paul was from Waukesha, and this may be where there is confusion. I am not sure what to say other than that. LondonTaxi (talk) 19:12, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Add to Steve Miller history?

In the 1990s or early 2000s the US Postal Service used Fly Like An Eagle in its marketing of postal products. That would be a nice addition to the history of the Steve Miller Band if someone could do the research. 56.0.143.23 (talk) 16:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

San Francisco?

There is no mention of how Miller and co. wound up in San Francisco. There is a reference to the "psychedelic blues style that dominated the San Francisco music scene," in reference to the band's first album, but no mention of how they got from Wisconsin to S.F.

I would also like to see a bit of discussion about the San Francisco scene in relation to the SMB, namely how the band fit in with other Bay Area bands that are mentioned more frequently, i.e. Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Big Brother, Quicksilver, et al.

I ask these questions because I don't know the answers. I came to Wikipedia expecting to learn about the SMB, but found discussion of this particular aspect of their career lacking. I suppose that I'll go elsewhere to find these answers and will update this myself if I can find the info I seek.

Biographical Info?

How about some more biographical info about Steve Miller himself? (A lot of the facts about his recording career might better belong under the article for "The Steve Miller Band.") For example, has he ever been married, any kids, etc? 208.125.176.34 (talk) 17:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How about some information on Steve Miller's personal life. Was he ever married? Is he hetero- or homo-sexual? Did he have any significant romantic attachments? Any kids, etc? (See above comment, too.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.59.102.196 (talk) 02:42, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Age problems

Listed age when starting college is "16" yet graduation date would seem to make him 18 at time of stated graduation from high school in 1961. Hmmm......something is fishy in the state of Denmark. NDM (talk) 08:09, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I found an interview with the UW-M paper where it says he went there from 1962-66, so I'll remove the bit about age 16.Lawikitejana (talk) 22:44, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I fail to see how this article, and the band's page (as per this section's heading), radically differ in content. OK, they are not mirror images of each other, but I suggest either merging the two as they presently stand (taking the best referenced and formatted pieces of each) OR basically altering both of them to provide definite distinct entities. Presently it is hardly a seamless join, but looking at each page it appears, to me, to suggest one is rather mutual to the other. Any other thoughts ?
