Alabama Heritage Magazine

• Comment: What we need is proof that academics/journalists have observed and comment on the Magazine's career and impact. We don't need lists of personnel (unless one or two of them are individually famous and worth commenting on their role) as such stuff belongs on the Magazine's own "about us" page but is of no use to the average Wikipedia reader.
  Please find some coverage to demonstrate that the Magazine meets WP:Notability. That's the sort of thing we need. Note also, if you find a bit in a book that you want to site, just plug the URL into the tool at http://reftag.appspot.com and it will turn it into a full proper Wikipedia citation, saves you some typing.
  So provide more evidence like that, and remove the internal minutiae about staffing and whatnot. Focus instead on the mag itself, what it does, what it's recognised for, etc. This is a good start, now to strengthen it up. MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:58, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Alabama Heritage is an award-winning, nonprofit educational quarterly history magazine first published during the summer of 1986. It is published by the University of Alabama, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the Alabama Department of Archives and History. The magazine was conceived with a broad conception of "heritage," incorporating more than traditional history. Issues include articles about archaeology, architecture, anthropology, religion, folk arts, literature, and music. (ISSN: 0887-493X)

Alabama Heritage History

Bill Barnard, chair of the University of Alabama's history department, first broached the idea of a state history magazine and recruited Suzanne Wolfe to run with it. The first issue rolled out in the summer of 1986. Articles in Alabama Heritage present solid scholarship in an accessible form — in a narrative that appeals to a general audience with the goal to educate and entertain simultaneously, and in some cases inspire.
