A Shroob holding a gun

The Shroobs (ゲドンコ, Gedonko) are an alien species in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. They launched an attack on the Mushroom Kingdom while Mario and Luigi were babies. They are purple alien mushrooms who are led by the powerful Princess Shroob. The Shroobs also command a vast armada of spaceships, which are equipped with lasers and special abduction beams that can kidnap things from toads to time twins (Mario, Baby Mario, Luigi, and Baby Luigi). They also took over Peach's castle in the past. But a rumor says that without Prof. E. Gadd's time machine, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi was able to defeat the Shroobs by using their bane, baby tears.

Princess Shroob

Princess Shroob is the main villain of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. When she attacked the Mushroom Kingdom in the past, they invaded the castle of the past. When Princess Peach arrived in the time machine she was kidnapped. Princess Peach tried to hold back the Shroobs with the Time Machine's power source, the Cobalt Star, but it got destroyed in the process. She is the third female antagonist in the Mario series after Cackletta and the Shadow Queen/Shadow Peach. Fourth or fifth, if counting Captain Syrup and Golden Diva from the the Wario Land series. She has around 2,500 hit points.

The throne gives Princess Shroob most of her power. The thing that most people doesn't like about it is that it is always protected by a force field, so shut it down in one turn with a copy flower or Pocket Chomp. Along with being shielded, the princess will either try to shoot and sit on you or hit you with blow-dryer like lasers.

After getting out of her throne which she doesn't care, she has two attacks:

1. Princess Shroob will create a Shroob star and try to hit a sibling with it. Jump on it; if you don't bounce off of it, it will come at you again... and again... and again... until you hit it or it hits you.

2. The princess will send energy balls at you. Be careful, she will teleport even if you avoid one ball, especially if she's on the top screen. If she is roughly in the middle of the screen, she will attack Luigi, and if about a centimeter on top, Mario.

If Princess Shroob is out of her throne, this is the only way to damage her. Eventually, she will repair the throne and sit on on it again. So, repeat the steps. Red shells work on her the best, but chomp orbs, mix flowers, bros flowers, ice flowers, and copy flowers work, too.

Beware, in the middle of the fight, Princess Shroob will glow red. This means that you are soon beating her and she will try to damage you with more than one attack. Don't worry, she doesn't raise any stats once she glows. This may seem annoying, so patience is required.

Most fan clubs say Princess Shroob is more attractive than Princess Peach, mainly because of her fashions: long white gloves with a violet-red dress. This causes Princess Shroob to resemble Princess Peach.

Elder Princess Shroob

Badge Suggestions: Dynamic Badge A, Ulti-Free Badge, Lucky Badge A.

Status Suggestions: Stache, HP, Attack, Defence, Speed.

Princess Shroob's twin sister is even more powerful than her sister, but with the help of lots ice flowers, the elder sister will lose power, speed, and defence. Elder Princess Shroob has a large variety of attacks, and they depend on how many shroob UFOs are available on the top screen. She can heal often with 120 points, so attack her with more than she can regain. Don't worry if she's like her younger sister, because she has 'lower' defence, so take advantage of Elder Princess Shroob's disability. Red shells, mix flowers, ice flowers, cannon- ballers, and trampolines are required for defeating Princess Shroob. However, when she takes 3000 hit points, she may appear to be dying, but don't let your guards down yet!

The player will have to have to eliminate her stronger form with 3,000 more HP. In that form, she has seven parts; four arm tentacles, a group of leg tentacles, a crown, and her main body. In order to make her vulnerable, the player must eliminate the leg tentacles, and then the crown, before they can attack the head. Princess Shroob's attacks vary depending on which body parts are involved. Her arms can grab or stab the brothers. Her leg tentacles can spin on the ground (two or three at a time). Her head can shoot poison gas, shoot down UFOs, or create an energy orb, and drop it on a brother; the latter two attacks can be countered. But, she can regenerate her body parts, even if you knock out the crown. So, defeating her arm tentacles is both a waste of items and a chance for her to not use one of her attacks. Ice flowers and red shells will not work in this battle, however, you are free to use Mix flowers, copy flowers, cannon- ballers, trampolines, and Chomp orbs. This is a quite long and tough battle, so make sure you have plenty of Bros. Items and 1-ups. When she is weak and when her crown is down she will back up and than her eyes will glow opening a time hole and than attack the saucers sending them into the time hole than her crown will regenerate right after that. Red shells work very well on the foot though.

The player defeats her and, claiming her mushroom remains, returns to present, but a formerly unconscious Bowser eats the remains and turns into Shrowser, a combination of Bowser and the spirit of the Elder Princess Shroob (making this the second Mario boss to combine with Bowser). But this battle is a sick joke, it is unique because, as you are unable to attack, in order to defeat Shrowser, the player must jump over or hit back 20 fireballs, 10 fire orbs, or some combination of the two (e.g. 12 fireballs and four fire orbs). But, you cannot heal either, so don't waste your energy on training before you fight.

A notable feature of Elder Princess Shroob is that, like Mario, is the older sibling, but is shorter and more chubby than her younger sister.

Shrooboids

Shrooboids are a sub-species of Shroob that are both more powerful but seemingly less intelligent.

In their weakest state, the Junior Shrooboid, they have a small amount of HP (Max HP: 13) but have already developed their attack method, spinning at enemies to attack. The spinning attack is easy to counter just jump as it begins to twirl. One travels into the present in Princess Peach's time machine, and serves as a training battle for adult Mario and Luigi. Professor E. Gadd studies the "alien predator," and discovers that it reacts strongly to the Cobalt Star (presumably because it can defeat the Shroobs, but actually because Princess Shroob's essence is inside).

A Shrooboid Brat is the next toughest, being able to smash enemies with huge lollipop-like structures, or spit poison mushrooms, mushrooms, or fireballs at the brothers. In the only fight against Shrooboid Brat, it's attacks revolve around the votes it receives from the Shroobs in the audience. It's still rather clumsy, however, and if Mario and Luigi can determine who will be attacked, they can easily avoid its attacks. The Shrooboid Brat is unleashed upon the brothers when they defeat Princess Shroob's bodyguards in the middle of the Koopaseum.

Elder Shrooboids are by far the strongest of all of them. They have a wider variety of attacks. Some attacks include throwing fireballs, spinning a spiked ball on a chain at frozen brothers, spinning spiked balls, charging the brothers, and increasing in size in mid-battle. They also have spikes on their head, but are vulnerable to jumps and cannot attack when they are knocked over. About halfway into the battle, the Elder Shrooboids increase in size and call in a UFO, which, if not hit with a spiked ball in four turns (Mario or Luigi must strike one that the Shrooboid spins), instantly defeats the party with a massive energy blast. An Elder Shrooboid attacks just as Toadbert is about to reveal the secret of his drawing, and the Shrooboid turns him and Kylie Koopa, both previously injured by the monster, into Shroob mushrooms.

Commander Shroob, Support Shroobs and Shroob-Omb

The Commander Shroob is capable of using his whistle to control Support Shroobs. The Support Shroobs are capable of teamwork rivaling that of even Mario & Luigi. The Shroob-Omb is a giant, Shroob-flavored Bob-omb that seems to be shockingly light, despite its size. It requires three Support Shroobs due to its bulky body more then its weight; defeat two of the Shroobs and it will become unbalanced and crush the solo Shroob. If the player does not defeat the correct Shroobs, it may roll towards Mario and Luigi and damage them; however, if only the Support Shroob on the left remains, the bomb will roll offscreen and detonate near Commander Shroob, exposing him. Commander Shroob attacks by shooting you with laser guns (faster than other Shroobs) and flinging Support Shroobs.

Sunnycide

Whether this is an actual Shroob is unknown. In Yoob's Belly, Sunnycide protects the eggs containing the Yoshi (ironically, by flinging them at the brothers) and (presumably) awaits their transformation into Yoobs. However, the eggs can work against Sunnycide; if five Yoshis are freed, they will roll a Chomp Rock off an overlooking "cliff," knocking Sunnycide over and rendering it vulnerable. Sunnycide, however, is able to open pits and summon Boos by pulling on chains and ropes. Presumably, since Mario & Luigi were inside Yoob when it was super-sized, Sunnycide may not have actually been a threat when Yoob was regular size (though this isn't saying much, as Yoob's still huge when normal sized). However, there is no evidence that the Yoshis that were swallowed when Yoob was normal size increased size, so Sunnycide's increase in size may not have had any effect on those inside. He has around 350 HP.When he's fliped over, I perfer to use cannonballers.Does around 50 damage.

Yoob

Yoob wrecks havoc on the Yoshi Village on Yoshi's Island by eating every Yoshi he can see. When Yoob eats a Yoshi, the Yoshi is tortured by RC Shroobers, then sent into a device that encases it in a purple and green egg. When the egg hatches, it is thought that the Yoshi will have turned into a new Yoob. Whether or not this means Yoob was originally a Yoshi is debatable. It could be possible that Yoob was a genetic project made by the Shroobs.

Swiggler

When the Toads are captured by the Shroobs, they are taken to Toadwood Forest, where they are captured by the trees, who then proceed to suck the Vim (presumably the Toad's life energy) out of them. The Vim is then taken through underground pipes into the Shroob's Vim Factory. It's then mixed with various liquids and is eventually turned into a fluid that is drunken by Swiggler. Swiggler is able to power-up the Shroob's flying saucers using this drink - hence the name Swiggler. Usually plump and green, the Swiggler may turn red or a light blue.

Swiggler is also able to respond to whatever is in its drink; a normal drink allows it to power up UFOs, which attack the player. If it drinks immediately after a Dr. Shroob has dropped a poison mushroom into the drink, it will become vulnerable. If it drinks after a Dr. Shroob has dropped a super mushroom, though, it will be healed. It is also able to counterattack if not attacked while vulnerable, and shoot poison clouds at the brothers.

Minor Shroobs

Other minor Shroobs can be found in regular battles. This includes:

Shroob UFOS - Found at various points in the game. They do not appear as stand-alone enemies, but often accompany others (such as Blazing Shroobs, Swiggler, Elder Shrooboid, and Elder Princess Shroob). They can fire lasers, increase Yoob's size, or start a countdown that ends with an unavoidable attack that kills the brothers and the babies in one hit, depending on when and where they are fought.

Shrooblet - A small Goomba-like Shroob found near Hollijolli Village.

Dr. Shroob - A yellow Shroob wearing glasses found in Vim Factory. Somtimes, they hold shroob-like mushrooms that are red or grey. You should attack them when they are holding red mushrooms to stop them using it. If they are holding grey mushrooms, leave them, as they will eat it and shrink.

RC Shroober - A light blue Shroob that can summon remote-controlled robots and UFOs found in Yoob's belly. Max HP is 56.

Shrooba Diver - A green Shroob that wears swimming goggles and an oxygen tank, and can also swim in sand. Found in Gritzy Desert. One of its attacks is throwing a fish or a thornball at either of the Mario Bros.

Guardian Shroob - A white Shroob that sometimes works as pairs to attack both Brothers at once. Found in the Shroob Mother Ship. Max HP is 86.

Blazing Shroob - A red Shroob with its head on fire. While in battle, a Shroob UFO will use the flames to shoot fireworks at the Brothers. Found in Thwomp Caverns. If the fire dies out, it attacks with a gun instead. If you don't mind damage you can quickly get rid of the fire by jumping on its head

Shroid - A robotic Shroob that can encase the brothers in crystals and then fire lasers at them. They also play Simon Says by holding up colored flags, and can also summon giant spiked spheres to chuck at a brother. Found in Toad Town.

Shroobsworth - A purple shroob resembling Toadsworth with a white moustache and a cane. It attacks using its cane. The smaller Intern Shroob rides on its back and replaces the Shroobsworth when it is knocked out. Max HP is 150.

Intern Shroob - Your average purple Shroob that hitches rides on the larger Shroobworths. If left alone, the Intern will revive the Shroobworth with a 1-Up Mushroom. Found in Shroob Castle. The name 'Intern Shroob' refers to 'Apprentice Shroob'. It is best to eliminate the Intern Shroob with bros. attacks like green shells. Max HP is 110.

Shroob-like Enemies

There are also many other shroob-like enemies that can be found in regular battles. They are like regular Mushroom Kingdom characters but Shroobified.

Lakitufo - A Lakitu with Shroob-like characteristics. It rides on a UFO (in the same fashion as how a regular Lakitu rides on a cloud) and summons Spiny Shroopas. Attacks by jumping off of its UFO and ramming into Mario or Luigi. Found in Vim Factory.

Spiny Shroopas - a Spiny with shroob-like characteristics. It attacks by charging. You can defend against it by hammering it. Found in the Vim Factory.

Tashrooba - A Tanoomba with shroob-like characteristics. It attaks like the normal Tanoomba; it can turn into a spiked shell and spin at the bros. It can also jump into the air and turn into a balloon or Thwomp and squish a bro. Found in Shroob Castle.

Shroob Rex - A Rex with shroob-like characteristics. It attacks by charging, by spitting a ball of fire, and by ground-pounding the floor. Found in Shroob Castle.
