Too Much Information is the fifth studio album by English indie rock band Maxïmo Park. It was released in the United Kingdom on 2 February 2014 by V2 Records. PIAS Recordings in the U.S and Europe. Hostess Entertainment in Japan and Universal Records in Germany

Album information

The album was mainly recorded at the bands studio but initially started at the studio of Peter and David Brewis of Field Music, in an interview front man Paul Smith describes what the brothers brought to some of the tracks they worked on for the record.

"Dave kind of took the reins in terms of engineering. He would say “what sort of sound do you want” we said “yeah maybe a round bass sound”. Peter Brewis played a bit of marimba on a couple of the songs. So they added a bit of their musical knowledge to the whole thing."[1]

The bulk of the album was recorded by the bands guitarist Duncan Lloyd at the bands own studio in Newcastle during the end 2013.

The album included contributions from Dave Okumu from the The Invisible and was mixed by Nicolas Vernhes who previously worked with Deerhunter on Monomania.

At Alternative Press, Tim Karan rated the album three-and-a-half out of five stars, noting that "Although past Maxïmo Park records certainly exhibited diversity, they often sacrificed cohesion in the process; however, Too Much Information has just the right balance of depth, maturity and consistency to ensure success."[2]
