Essam El-Gindy or Essam El-Gendy is an Egyptian chess grandmaster. In November 2014, he is the fifth highest ranked active player in Africa and number three among active players in Egypt.

  • Holding the title of International Grand Master and FideTrainer.
  • Qualified to the World Cup for men seven times from 1997 to 2013
  • Champion of the continent of Africa alone in 2003 Nigeria - Abuja
  • Champion of the international Francophones chess 2014
  • Champion of the African Zone three times in a row since 1996 .
  • Arab champion alone at 2003- Egypt - Cairo - Maadi .
  • Champion of Egypt, and ranked number one for many years to the early nineties until 2005.
  • Winner of 2 Golds Medal in individual and team,African olympic Games in Algeria in 2007 .
  • Holding the title International Grand Master.
  • Achieved Elo rating more 2500 since 2002 ,and 2485 since 1997 .
  • Victory over former world champion Ponomariov in the first game in the World Cup, Khanty-Mansiysk 2007.
  • Arab champion alone at 2009- Tunisia .
