A life extensionist is a person who applies methods and technologies of life extension (LE) to retarding his own aging and to prolonging his own life. The term also applies to anyone who supports the life extension movement, which combats death (especially death due to aging) on all fronts, and works on and lobbies for improving the life expectancy of all humans. Important categories of life extensionists include life extension activists, life extension researchers, and life extension writers.

Notable life extensionists

  • Aubrey de Grey - geneticist and LE activist
  • Bernard Strehler - eminent gerontologist
  • Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw (rarely are these two mentioned, or seen, separately) - LE co-authors, co-activists, and nutrition product development duo. Together popularized the life extension movement. Sued the FDA concerning overregulation of nutrition product labels, and won.
  • Ray Kurzweil - LE author, and major spokesperson for transhumanism (a philosophy in which life extension plays a major role)
  • Roy Walford - Pioneer in LE research, advocate of caloric restriction,
  • Sandy Shaw (see also Durk Pearson) - see Durk Pearson entry, above.
  • Saul Kent - LE activist, author, and nutrient distributor.
