Zaira is a female given name. It is the Italian form of "Zaïre", a name used by Voltaire for the heroine of his 1732 play, Zaïre.[1] Zaira means "dawning" in Italian, "princess" in Irish and Hebrew, "rose" in Arabic, and "pilgrim" in Persian. The name may refer to:
