Class 395

Hi,

Regarding your reinstatement of the "Javelin" nickname on the Southeastern page. Your supporting evidence for this is a link to a Hitachi web page for the class. This page does not support "Javelin" being an official name for the class. The only use of "Javelin" on the page is in brackets. If you read the text on the page you'll note that the author consistently refers to the train onlyas a Class 395. Note the difference between how the "Javelin" name is treated on the site compared to classes which do have an official name, such as the Networker (ie: no brackets).

I'm not saying that there should be no mention of the "Javelin" nickname, just that it should not be used as if it were the official name of the type. Perhaps an acceptable compromise would be changing the link to either Class 395 "Javelin" or Class 395 (Javelin), similar to the Hitachi site. Personally I feel there's no need to include any name at all though, the page already links to the 508s simply by their class number for example. 2p0rk (talk) 11:20, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, regarding your move of Template:NXEA colour to Template:Greater Anglia colour on 4 February 2012, please comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject UK Railways/Colours list#NXEA. Thanks. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:06, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Image replacements

Hi JaJaWa, Unless you're actually updating logos, Please don't replace ceased company logos like these [1] with ones that weren't ever used, Also "Connex South Eastern" was also used on trains so the logo is still correct,
Thanks, –Davey2010(talk) 22:48, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Davey2010: Hi Davey, this logo was the last logo used in the franchise and trains had the Connex South Eastern logo replaced with it (personal experience, see File:375609 at London Victoria.jpg etc. for proof) - therefore it is the correct logo to be used on the Wikipedia page. I suppose the "Connex South Eastern" logo could feature in a history section in the article. Thank you.   JaJaWa |talk  23:40, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hiya, Ah so they did, In that case I'll revert, & add it below, Thanks :) –Davey2010(talk) 23:42, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The logo itself isn't covered by the OGL. I checked with HMSO before uploading the image in 2013, as v3 of the licence says "The licence does not cover departmental or public sector organisation logos, crests and the Royal Arms except where they form an integral part of a document or dataset". I'll track the email down but that's why it's tagged as keep local. Nthep (talk) 22:47, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear N,
Thank you for your email dated August 6th, 2013. The OGL logo is Crown copyright, but as the re-use a logo is not covered under the Open Government Licence, or the Creative Commons Licence. The use of government departmental marks and logos is governed by an Delegation of Authority from the Controller of Her Majesty's Stationery office, which gives each government department the rights over the re-use of these logos. Re-use of logos is rarely granted other than for official government or department usage.
However, as the body responsible for the administration of Crown copyright, and with the authority to grant permission for the re-use of ::the OGL logo, we would see no objection to its use in this way e.g.as an accompaniment to an article on the Open Government Licence on ::the Wikipedia site.
I hope this information will be helpful to you, but if you have further questions, please feel free to get in touch with me again. You might find the guidance on how the logo can be used helpful, and to this end I have included a link http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/information-management/government-licensing/ogl-symbol.htm
Yours sincerely

NEEA does redirect to

Hi, JaJaWa!

I took a look at this edit. In fact NEEA does redirect to National Express East Anglia so I have restored the link.

Please review the definition of Wikipedia:Vandalism.

Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 15:22, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, the vandalism bit referred to this nonsense "All dining car services were eliminated to pay for the livery costs incurred in repainting every piece of rolling stock in the franchise after the One rebranding exercise, though the new name had a life of less than 4 years" not your edit. The code NXEA was usually used to referred to National eXpress East Anglia, so I've changed NEEA to redirect to your page instead.   JaJaWa |talk  15:45, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! I understand now. Thank you for clarifying things :) WhisperToMe (talk) 15:50, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"injected by Adguard"

Hi JaJaWa. Please check this change that you made: [2]. You see that big JavaScript bit at the bottom? I assume that was a mistake? I have removed it leaving the rest of your edit in place. I can't see any similar thing in any of your other recent edits, so I don't think you need to panic, but maybe you need to keep an eye on Adguard to make sure it isn't misbehaving under some circumstances. --DanielRigal (talk) 21:40, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear! That wasn't good. I've disabled it from running on Wikipedia now. I couldn't figure out why that was showing for me on the page earlier and I tried disabling it, but I didn't realise it had managed to actually inject that text into the page... Thanks!   JaJaWa |talk  22:30, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

First Great Western article name

FYI, based on additional information received that the First Great Western franchise will be rebranded as Great Western Railway, not the abbreviated GWR as previously suggested, I have amended the discussion at Talk:First Great Western to reflect. This may or may not influence your previously given preference on this matter. D47817 (talk) 02:54, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JaJaWa. I reverted your edit to MTR, but I realised I have not actually been to the station recently. If I am mistaken please revert my edit. Regards, Citobun (talk) 04:01, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccurate logos

Hi JaJaWa - I just thought I should leave you a message as I do see your work quite a lot on the site. I think it's great that you want to contribute by producing vector logos of different companies, but please can you avoid replacing good PNG or other official logos with SVGs that are not accurate representations of the logos they are replacing. They are good but often not quite good enough. As an example, your First logo on the First Devon & Cornwall page is close, but not actually what the First logo looks like, the font is different and on the official version is no dot on the i, for example. As a graphic designer it's really painful to see inaccurate logos being uploaded and replacing official ones, so I'd appreciate if you didn't replace things that (while low res) are accurate. Thanks and I hope this wasn't as painful to read as it was to write! Whistler 22:51, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi there. Just wanted to reply to your message on my talk page and clarify a couple of things! I do not produce vector logos, just extract them from PDFs on company websites. I will only do this if the logo is in a vector format within the PDF, so the logo should be exactly as the company intended.
Regarding the FirstGroup logo which appears on First Devon & Cornwall, I am not sure why there was a dot on the i as I cannot find the logo in this format again. Perhaps First were originally planning on having one when they launched their new logo. I've now removed the dot and the logo now appears to me to be exactly the same as on a First Devon & Cornwall bus (see Flickr: First Devon & Cornwall 69017). Please feel free to look through my uploads if you'd like, and I'll fix / revert any others with issues that exist. Thanks,   JaJaWa |talk  04:31, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi JaJaWa, Hi yes I did have a look at your contributions following my message and the few I saw there seemed to be good. I think it's probably just the couple I have seen previously (for First and Southern Vectis) as know these logos well so notice if a font is slightly off (you'll see I swapped the Vectis one for one with the correct 'the island's buses' font - Omnes.)
For First I think the logo is better now but the 'First' type is still wrong. See this SVG which uses the official type: http://busesofsomerset.co.uk/images/first.svg - from my experience a lot of these logos do not use standard fonts or use versions that are modified, so they can be a bit of a minefield if you do attempt to recreate them. Thanks - Whistler (talk) 19:36, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just took a more in depth look at your uploads, most look fine but I noticed the London Sovereign logo looks particularly off compared to the version you'll find on the RATP site, both in terms of fonts and tracking (the letter spacing) - perhaps this is worth either revisiting or replacing with the PNG version available on the official site until a better vector is available?
Here's quick comparison of the two versions for you: http://i.imgur.com/AGgS6x3.png
Thanks again, Whistler (talk) 21:16, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Northern Electrics article back at AfD

Hi JaJaWa, just to let you know I've nominated Northern Electrics for deletion again, proposing that relevant discussion goes in the main Northern Rail article instead. (Not to mention that it's likely going to be obsolescent as a brand once Arriva Trains North take over the franchise, though I realise that's not a suitable criteria for deletion...). Any comments on the AfD discussion would be welcomed. Many thanks! Mike1901 (talk) 15:28, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And my issue is I can't use these two image files on the Leicester's Chinese version page (see source at: https://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E8%90%8A%E6%96%AF%E7%89%B9%E5%A4%A7%E5%AD%B8&action=edit). Disputed non-free use rationale for File:StagecoachLogo.svg

Thank you for uploading File:StagecoachLogo.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 11:51, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

Unspecified source/license for File:BeijingMTRenglish.svg

Thanks for uploading File:BeijingMTRenglish.svg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 08:46, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
