Dr. Brij Bushan Mani Tripathi was an MLA from Milikipur. He was elected in 1989 Assembly Election[2]. In 1989, He emerged as a popular leader of Uttar pradesh by beating Mitrasen Yadav who was a three time MLA from Milkipur in the Uttar pradesh assembly election [3]. He won the 1989 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election with 48.95% vote gain at that time he represented Indian National Congress Party.[4] . In 1993 he went to Bharatiya Janta Party. In 1996 and 1998 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections he fought election from Milkipur on the ticket of BJP but lost both times by only a margin about 2% votes
