The Islands have a King, who is known as King of the Fams. The current King, who has served for 32 years is King Asif Rashid. King Rashid’s reign has not been without controversy,2013 he was involved in a people smuggling incident. Since this incident he has vowed to make fam islands a better place for all of its inhabitants. |

Fam Islands (Indonesian: Kepulauan Fam) are a group of islands in the Raja Ampat Archipelago, which are administered as part of the Indonesian province of West Papua.[1][2][3] The main islands are Fam, Penemu (Fam Besar), Inus and Yar.[4] They lie northwest of Batanta island, in the straits between Waigeo and Batanta and New Guinea.[5]
