Language learning
Moses McCormick was born in Akron, OH on March 12, 1981. McCormick began learning Mandarin Chinese at 18 eventually learning to both read and write Chinese kanji. He pioneered the language “surprise reaction” video genre on YouTube and gained popularity by speaking several languages with native speakers that he met in public places, and uploading the videos on his YouTube channel.[1][2] He called this activity leveling up.[3]
McCormick taught language lessons remotely over the internet,[4] over time developing his own language learning method, which he called FLR (Foreign Language Roadrunning).[5][6]
The foreign language in which McCormick was most fluent was Mandarin Chinese. He also spoke around twenty languages at a basic conversational level, including Japanese, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Korean, Somali, Spanish, and Swahili.[1]
Death
McCormick died on March 4, 2021, possibly due to heart complications.[5][4][6]
