Waye Mason is an reasonably active wikipedian who lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His first edit was made at 00:44, on 9 August 2005. Born in Halifax/Dartmouth, as it was then called, he also lived in Toronto, Ottawa, Norfolk and London.
He was elected as Halifax Regional Council Councillor for District 7 Halifax South Downtown in October 2012. He tries not to edit the Halifax page anymore. Before he was elected he worked as an educator at a the Nova Scotia Community College, and as a business consultant focusing on business management, event planning, and government lobbying around cultural issues. He has been involved with the Halifax music community for since 1989, including running the Halifax Pop Explosion for a nine years.
He likes writing about things in third person, but only on Wikipedia./jk
More importantly than the bio above are my real-life nerd achievements. I have been online since about 1984, when I first plugged a 300 baud acoustic coupler into my Vic-20 and called into my first BBS (TIBBS, a local BBS run on a Texas Instruments computer!) I had an email account on the AM*X network and a FidoNet account by 1986, and was trying to hack into the Dal university computer by 1987. My first real post DARPA net style internet email address was at Dalhousie University as a student in 1990. As a point of pride - I still have access to that email account. I remember when there were only 1100 usenet new groups and the newgroups were all, by and large, good, and gofer and telnet were the very frontier.
