• “Boom LACKA-LACKA-LACKA", are the actual correct and original lyrics from the chorus of "I Want to Take You Higher”, a psychedelic funk and psychedelic soul song written before 1968 by Sly Stone (Stewart) and recorded by Sly and The Family Stone in 1969. For decades these lyrics have been incorrectly sung by the public and artists alike as, " Boom SHAKA LAKA LAKA". The correct, full chorus lyrics are: "Boom lacka-lacka-lacka, Boom lacka-lack-goon-ka boom ... Hey, hey, hey, hey!"
• "I Want To Take You Higher", by Ike and Tina Turner and The Ikettes, released in 1970, Liberty Records. It is in THIS version that the chorus lyrics were changed to, "Boom shaka laka laka."
• "Boom Shaka Laka Laka", a 1970 reggae song by Hopeton Lewis, also covered by UB40 on the 2010 album Labour of Love IV.
