Marvin is an indigenous Maya born in Guatemala, and raised in Belize. He came to Cleveland through a joint partnership in Maya programming between Cleveland State University and the country of Belize. Having received a bachelor's degree in Anthropology, he was awarded a scholarship to receive his master's degree in Urban Ecology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Being one of the few Mayans to receive a Masters degree, Marvin uses his skills to advocate for the Maya people and other indigenous cultures in Central and South America.

Marvin is fluent in six languages, a scholar of diverse cultures, and an expert in Urban Ecology/GIS. He facilitates connections within indigenous communities internationally and acts as a liaison in a developing culturally sensitive community-based conservation, sustainable development and educational programming among the indigenous communities in which Earth Healers works. He is also a strong advocate in using technology to educate and empower indigenous peoples worldwide in culturally relative fashions.

Following the cultural footpaths of his father, a Maya activist in Belize, Marvin applies his cultural background and his unique skill sets in developing novel cultural empowerment models in ecologically friendly manners. His desire is to create ecologically friendly economic opportunity in impoverished areas, using sustainable projects geared toward preserving cultures and environment. It is with these views that he has helped to found Earth Healers and its sister company,Naturaleza.
