anyone know if fordyce's spots go away with time or are they something you have your entire life?

I have this, and its starting to spread from my scrotum to the shaft; i was actually able to pop one today (never have been able to) and white stuff came out. --anonymous, 10/18/06

Same here. The spot then became pretty infected and grew. The infections still haven't gone entirely away, after more than one year.

I have also popped one (on my scrotum); does anyone know what this white stuff that comes out is?

are they similar to blackheads? only both seem to be caused by the sebaceous gland, and both appear yellow/white (other than the blackhead of the spot itself). surely this would mean that any effective blackhead treatment would work for them? could anyone verify/deny this?

As far as I know they are a more or less direct indicator of how "greasy" or not your skin is. So if you're the kind of person with productive sebaceous glands in general, you are very likely to have prominent Fordyce's spots as well. It's just because the skin on your Frankfurter is very thin and directly underlaid by erectile tissue that you can see the glands you have there so well - if you had erectile tissue directly under the skin of your cheeks, it would look exactly the same way! :-) (Funny thought, really.) Using a soap that washes off your skin's protective tallow layer (which most of them do), you will probably rather stimulate the production of sebum; and as the Fordyce's spots are not located in open pores like on your nose but rather stowed away inside your skin, you won't really reach them there with any kind of cleansing liquid. So the best thing to do is the following: quit your worrying already. Your John Thomas is, in fact, a penis and needs those glands - just like any other part of your skin does. PLEASE HELP!!! MY friend is a FORDYCE and ive had him for about one year, ive never had any major problems but i squeeze him regulary until white stuff comes out and he still wont go away. My other friends have seen my FORDYCE which has now spread to my ZAC wich is only a MINOR problem but doesnt seem to be getting any better. ANY SUGGESTIONS??? PUNI.

I have 3 of these on my penis. Told many times they were this but its hard to go from OMFG I got something bad too an oh! alright.. They do not have to cover the whole penis. They can even be bigger then whats in the picture. Its always a good idea to have a doc tell you what it is rather then guess.

If you mean ICD, then my brief research seems to indicate that it doesn't have one. This might be because it's perfectly normal. THAT IS ME!!! If you want, you can add to this article that Roaccutan may make them go away !!!! Read that link please.. I didnt add it by myself cuz I think that one person experience is not enought to suppose that this may be a cure, but it's working GREAT on me. Also, my english is not good enough to write an article.

In some cases might it just be pubic hair trying to break through the skin?
