The artist

Eberto Escobedo Lazo was born in (Camagüey, Cuba on November, 1919 He was mostly a paintor but he is also known for his drawing work. He developed his interest in art due to his formation in Fine Arts studies in the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes “San Alejandro”, Havana, Cuba

Individual Exhibitions

In 1946,he exhibited "50 óleos de Escobedo" in the Sociedad Universitaria de Bellas Artes,Universidad de La Habana, Havana, that was his first personal exhibition. Later in 1968 he presented "Escobedo y Delarra", Galería Isla de Pinos, Isla de Pinos, and in the next year in 1969 his paintings were shown under the name of “Puentes”, in Galería de La Habana, Havana, Cuba

Collective Exhibitions

This are some of Escobedos's principals collectives shows: In 1939 in the XXI Salón de Bellas Artes. Círculo de Bellas Artes, Havana. In 1951 he was part of "Art Cubain Contemporain",Musée National D’Art Moderne, Paris, France. In Cuba he exhibited his pieces in 1970 in a big exhibition displayed at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes "Salón, 70". Mos recently in 1994 he was selected for "Cuban Art The Last Sixty Years",Panamerican Art Gallery, Dallas, Texas, U.S.A

Awards

He had obteined recognitions for his artistic work as in 1939 when he received Mention of Honor, XXI Salón de Bellas Artes, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Havana and in 1955 Golden medall in Cuba en Tampa: La Feria del Progreso, Tampa, Florida, U.S.A.

Collections

His works are in collections such as the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana, Cuba. Also in the Ignacio Agramonte's Museum, Camagüey, Cuba and in the Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, Florida, U.S.A.
