Canberra Knights was nominated as a good article, but it did not meet the good article criteria at the time (October 2, 2007). There are suggestions below for improving the article. If you can improve it, please do; it may then be renominated.
GA failed
Fair use images need a separate description and reasoning for rationale, not just hte tag
To whoever put it up on GAN, it's still a quick fail. Needs a better lead, more sources, and the general flow needs to be tweaked. Wizardman16:24, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agrew with Wizardman. I was already typing out a list when he failed the article, so some things I think need to be addressed are:
Almost all of the article is unreferenced. This is the most serious problem, as a GA article must be fully sourced.
The current references need proper formatting. They should be placed after punctuation with no space before the reference. They should also use proper templates and include the title, publisher, url and accessdate.
The lead should be expanded to summarize the full article.
I believe there are too many pictures and that some should be removed, as they distract from the article itself. They should also be placed more carefully, as the placement seems random at times.
The "Tickets" section is unnecessary and reads as an advertisement.
The "Honored players" subsection is too short to stand on its own. This information should probably be worked into the text. At the very least, since Hudson Trophy is redlinked, an explanation of what it is should be included.Tim Byrnes (talk) 12:10, 8 April 2008 (UTC) I added this section a while ago. Other than a random link I found I've not heard this trophy mentioned. As far as I'm concerned we can do without the section.[reply]
En-dashes should be used for date ranges and game scores. These are made by typing &ndash'.
Copyediting and/or peer review is necessary. Some things should have been caught before the article was nominated (for example, "the 2006=2007 season").
Clarification would be nice for "The Knights lost head coach Tommi Suutari prior to the commencement of the 2007 season." Did he die? Retire? Quit? Sign with a different team? Since they replaced him with a player, it seems like something that happened unexpectedly and suddenly, so I immediately assumed that he died when I read this.Tim Byrnes (talk) 12:10, 8 April 2008 (UTC) He had to go back home[reply]
